Maybe we'll see that particular trident in some matches, but i'd expect to see it only if Italy needs to win or if they're chasing the result.
Because in order to have Del Piero-Toni-Cassano you'll need strong defense behind them. Camoranesi can defend but he's attacking minded while Pirlo isn't defending at all. Gattuso doesn't play on the left side, he never did in his life.
Del Piero can't cover the left side (attack AND defend), he said it himself that he doesn't want to play that position.

So, i really wonder how will the team look with all three of Toni, Ale and Cassano ?
Perrota instead of Camoranesi/Gattuso ?

Barzagli is not an italien !
He's a pure blooded Italian. And he's an awful defender btw. Materazzi is twice better defender than Barzagli and the other defenders on the list are at least 3 times better than him.

P.S: I'm really disappointed that Amauri didn't recieve the Italian passport yet. This Azzuri team needs few more italiens because Camo is not enough.
I hope Amauri, Osvaldo, Maxwell and few more south Americans will play for Italy at the next world cup.
that's why he is italien.italians are good defenders.

Poor Amauri could get his passport from moratti. He would be Amotelli and his age would be 17.

    -----------Buffon-------
    Panucci---Canna--Materazzi---Zambrotta
    -Camo/Perotta---Pirlo---De Rossi
    ------Cassano----Del Piero--
    --------------Toni---

Pirlo can play from his usual deep lying role.Too attack minded perhaps, which is why Donadoni wont use it.

Or which is why he'll use it when he'll need to score. :)

Donadoni will certainly start with his 4-3-3 where the lateral attackers will run non-stop (Camoranesi and Di Natale) and with Pirlo partnered by two destroyers in midfield.

Your formation above is the famous Christmas tree Ancelotti always uses. The difference is that Milan uses two destroyers, while the 2 attacking players behind the striker are more midfielders than they are attackers.
That's why it works (or better: that's why it worked. This year it certainly doesn't work). Your formation on the other hand is indeed too attack minded and it will be suicidal to use it against a tough midfield like the French one (Brazil 2006).

I like the team btw and i'd die to see how will it work. But i'm aware that it's a huge gamble and it will be used only if it's an emergency.

I agree with most of what Alen has said, and Seven,i dont see Donadoni dropping Pirlo. He should not be dropped TBH.Yes he had an average season, but he's too good a player to be on the bench.

A really great squad, I'm glad Cassano is in and also De Sanctis ;) (as if it would make any difference, but I like that guy). I can't help but look forward to watch this team.

DP undressed him... so did rocchi..kaka... several people have during the season but i cannot remember those games anymore.

    he makes lots of mistakes

he's a red-carding FOOL.. how many reds does he have this year, he got one in 06 as well and really screwed us in the aus. game... Talk about cassano being a liability... fuck that, look no farther than materazzi

i hate matrix, he's a turd, leave him in home

Inzaghi should be in the squad IMO. Other than that I'm happy with it.

Who do you guys think will be dropped from the squad?

    My line up:
    Buffon

    Panucci--Cannavaro--Materazzi--Zambrotta

    ---Camo--Pirlo--De Rossi

    --Del Piero--Toni--Di Natale

It's flexible because it could change to 442 like this:
    Camo--Pirlo--De Rossi--Di Natale
    -------Del Piero--Toni

I wouldn't mind Grosso coming in for Panucci and Zambrotta swapping sides.
