The thing is, it's not just against Italy. In all fairness they were never fucked over by the ref in 2006 and although they obviously deserved to win the WC, some teams really were kicked out by referees. One that comes to mind is the USA, who were unlucky to play against Ghana, because IMO FIFA wanted an African team to go through. Just like it might be a huge stimulus for Romania as a country, it was great news for the African continent back then.
As for these Euros, what bothers me most is the declarations made by the UEFA. After the Holland game they change the rule to save a referee's ass. After the Romania game, Del Piero's suddenly offside and active (what the hell?) and last but not least: they have to say Holland can field 11 substitutes and that that's just life. Obviously Holland can field 11 substitutes, but do you have to declare that and moreover the last part of the phrase is truly worrying: that's just life. It's like saying: tough break, you fucking Italians.
Oh, and Greece are out because of a refereeing error as well. Kudos UEFA.
