What has Judaism got to do with this?
Didnt mean it in an offensive way, sorry if thats how it sounds. I meant that as a Jew, Roman has invested heavily in Israeli football, paying for tournaments etc, not to mention he has an Israeli/Jewish coach, who, even with the greatest respect is sooooooooo under-qualified to be in that job its untrue. His investment in Russian NT is well known, & with his connection to Israel, qualifying is a done deal.

Vieri Wants Azzurri Recall

Fiorentina veteran Christian Vieri is eyeing a recall to the Italian national team after an excellent start to the season.

The 34-year-old hitman has been reborn following his move to Florence in the summer and has scored three goals in Serie A, and one in the Uefa Cup.

His form has been so impressive that he has recently been pushing hot young prospect Giampaolo Pazzini out of the Viola starting line-up.

Many believed that Vieri’s career was over after spending most of the last two year’s injured, however some are now talking of a return to the international scene.

“Do I think about the national team? I think only to play well, then it is up to the Coach to do his evaluation,” said Vieri.

“However it is clear that a return to the Azzurri squad is an objective of mine.

“When I came here many people said I was doing it just to pass the winter, or just to earn some more money, however I have re-discovered my game and my fitness.”

Please go. Games like this are once in a lifetime. Imagine if the unthinkable happened & you'd flogged your ticket? Mind you, if that were to happen, there would no doubt be 500,000 Scots who were "inside Hampden that day"

For me it would be a dream come true if England fail to qualify for Euro :weee:

Don prepares for D-day

Roberto Donadoni focuses on the Azzurri’s Euro 2008 qualification showdown with Scotland and gives an insight into the selection process.

The world champions travel to Glasgow on November 17 needing just a draw to book a ticket to Austria and Switzerland next year.

A number of potentially important figure have been suffering from injuries in recent weeks, but Donadoni is counting on fielding his strongest 11.

“We are still waiting for some players to recover from fitness problems, but there are two weeks left and we’re hoping to have a full squad,” he told jourmalists.

“We will have to see about Mauro Camoranesi. He might just play for a half if he isn’t fully fit and he doesn’t have a whole game in his legs.”

It appears that Milan’s Alberto Gilardino may have fired his way back into the squad after a period in the doldrums.

“There are no problems in attack,” Donadoni insisted. “Alberto Gilardino is playing well and he’s the kind of player you jump at choosing like Luca Toni and Vincenzo Iaquinta.”

However, despite the ex-Livorno tactician’s confidence in the strikers at his disposal, Donadoni has an eye on Palermo’s Amauri.

“There are still processes to undertake and at the moment there is a problem with his passport,” he explained.

“Obviously I’d like to have him in the squad, just like any other player in Serie A or B who could help the team.”

Players i would personally call up.
    Goalkeepers:
    Buffon
    Amelia
Sereni (He has been excellent with Torino all season)

    Defenders:
    Cannavaro
    Barzagli
Matterazi (depending upon fitness if he isnt fit then Dossena)
    Zambrotta
    Grosso
Chiellini (after his performance agaisnt inter how could he not be?)

    Midfielders:
    Perrota
    Camoranesi
Rosina (He is so good why not?)
    Pirlo
    Gattuso
    De rossi
    Foggia
Zanetti (The guy deserves it. Far better than Ambrosini)

    Strikers:
    Toni
    Di natale
    Gilardino
    Iaquinta
Del piero? ( Probably wont be called up but i cant rule out my favorite player)
I know Donadoni won't call up the same players i want but i think this is the best formation

For a starting lineup i would go with this backline:
    --------------------Buffon
    Zambrotta---Canna----Barza/Matterazi---Chiellini

The midfield is more confusing because Camo was excellent agaisnt inter but i am unsure of whether or not he could start a match. Pirlo and Gattuso seem definite as a central partnership yet De rossi, Perrota, Zanetti, Camo and Rosina could all get a start. As far as strikers go i would start Di natale and Toni then bring in Gilar and DP later on.
with a 4-3-1-2 formation I would start pirlo and gattuso in central midfield and either De rossi or Zanetti next to them with Perrota or Rosina as a CF and Toni and Di natale as strikers. Rosina is excellent and could support the two strikers yet i think Perrota would serve as an excellent CF as well. I would like to have 2 strikers up front Toni is definite and either Gila or Di natale should be next to him whoever is more fit. a 4-3-2-1 with Di natale and perro/Rosina as support strikers would be nice as well. I dropped Quagliarella and ambrosini from the squad yet i think donadoni will call them up. I will wait until after the next matches to make my desicions by i currently like this formation:

    ------------------------------------------------Buffon
Zambro(if he isnt fit then Grosso)----Canna----Barza------Chiellini

    ---------------------------------De rossi--------Pirlo---------Gattuso

    --------------------------------------------------Rosina
    ----------------------------------Di natale------------------Toni

    Eh what?

An inform Vieri is better than every other out and out striker Italy have right now, despite his age.
A certain mr. Toni would disagree. plus vieri is far from form he is bald at fat and playing in a purple shirt

Vieri isnt far for form.Another 2-3 months and he could edge Toni out of the Azzurri lineup. If Donadoni has the slightest of sense,he'd give Vieri a recall because Italy isnt really bursting with talent and form in the forwards department.Vieri could very well be the first choice striker at Euro 2008 if he keeps up the goodwork at Fiorentina.

Italy should be going for pace up front rather than trying to match Scotland physically.

Italy should play Toni CF with either Iaquinta or Di Natale supporting him.

France coach Raymond Domenech has all but written off Scotland's chances of qualifying for Euro 2008.
Domenech does not believe Scotland can beat Italy at Hampden on 17 November, while he thinks France will pick up at least the point they need in Ukraine.

"In my opinion, Italy are going to get a draw in Scotland," he told the French Football Federation website.

"We should get a draw in Ukraine. We shouldn't have to wait for the results of other teams to motivate ourselves."

Italy are a point behind the Scots heading into their Group B clash, but they have a game in hand - against the Faroe Islands the following Wednesday.

An Italy win in Glasgow would see them and France make it through before their final matches.

A point at Hampden and a victory over the Faroes would also seal the world champions' passage to next summer's tournament.

However, a win for Alex McLeish's team would see Scotland reach the finals in Austria and Switzerland, with Italy missing out.

The Italians have never won on Scottish soil but they have drawn on two of their three visits.

France, who lead the qualifying section, despite two losses to Scotland, will progress no matter the result at Hampden if they pick up a point or more in Kiev on 21 November.

A draw would be good enough for Scotland, if France slip up against Ukraine or in the unlikely event of a Faroe Islands win in Italy.
