Is there any fans of the horror genre of the forums?

Thought we could have a thread were we can discuss some of the old and newer films.

Iv'e always loved them and have been watching loads of old classics such as the Universal films Dracula, Frankenstien and The Wolfman.

Watched a double bill of the Exorcist and The Omen last night, great stuff.

Any one seen Let Me In?
I hope its as good as the Swedish version Let The Right One In as remakes seem to never be as good the orignal .

Blair Witch is one of the best i've ever seen,it's proved that bloody scenes are not a must in Horror films. And in general, the movie showed how the stroyline itself is the main factor to scare, effects are just secondary.

Ju on (the original japanese Grudge not the American) is a must watch for every horror fans.

Cannibal Holocoust is considered to be one of the most scariest movies, but i don't find it so.I just like the shootings in the film, they were extraordinary.

I watched Mullholland Dr. a few nights ago. Not really a horror movie but very dark and some scary moments. If you want to watch a confusing movie then you can't go wrong.

I have to spread some rep around first before i can give it :D

Yeah i did like that one but i havent really likes many horror films from the last decade or so i dont think they are as good as they were back in the day, a lot the recent ones are fully of too many cliches and i havent enjoyed many of the remakes either but there are some i liked:

The Hill Have Eyes
Blair Witch Project
Rec
The Texas Chinsaw Massacre: The Beginning
The Crazies
The Happening

I love American Psycho but wouldnt really call it a horror same for Silence of The Lambs, Frailty, Zodiac and Seven.

I agree, horror films from the eighties & nineties really were epic, but for me a lot of it has to do with the fact that i was a kid watching those movies. Add the fact that my mom wouldn't let me watch due to age restriction & excessive violence, it made it even more alluring.

These days, i'll watch a horror movie & logic takes over. Like when the bad guy catches his victim, would a bad guy really spend half an hour explaining his actions & motives or would somebody's conscious really get the best of them? There's an axe wielding murderer & you wanna go back to help your friend that's dying anyway?

Get the fuck outta here.:D

I didn't find Blair witch project that scary, the grudge was absolute crap, the only saving grace was Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Has anyone seen Drag me to hell? It wasn't that scary when I watched it the second time on DVD but when I saw it in theaters I nearly shit my pants.

Some of my fav of all time right there. Bram Stokers Dracula ,Halloween, Psycho, Rosemary's Baby, Jaws, Hellraiser, The Thing and Scream would aslo be in my list.

Have Jacobs ladder but havn't seen it yet and have about 40 Hammer Horror films to watch to :D

Exorcism of Emily Rose was awesome, otherwise don't get p[particularly scared by them.
I enjoyed that one too, anyone seen the Last Exorcism yet?

ManHunter is another great one

I downloaded alot of the remakes but thought I should watch the originals first so havn't got round to seeing them yet.

Did anyone watch the documentary A History Of Horror With Mark Gatiss?

Started from the beginning of the Century with the likes of Nosferatu and took you up to modern day films. Was a very good watch.

You can find all the parts on here.

28 days later was a good modern horror film. Most likely because the director was an actual movie director as opposed to someone who just makes short horror flicks.

I'm also a fan of the zombie Apocalypse theme.
