Do e a favour, Jem, and tell me why only North Korea should be under sanctions for a guilt that it shares with many countries in this World!!!
Having nuclear weapons?? So what?? Are they threatening two neighbour countries?? So what?? I know a country that threatens 20 neighbour countires since 60 years by the same weapons without seeing anybody saying any word about sanctions or even criticizing...
What a joke of a world we're living in these days...
And about the pictures which were claimed to be from North Korea, I think you all know that photoshop can do worse pictures, and you can find such scary pictures in all the countries of the World (In the poor neighbourhoods, at least)...
And let's assume that those pictures were correct and exclusive only in North Korea. Will the solution be occupying the country and killing hundred innocents just because they don't know their good??
Ok, first of all.. I don't want the nuclear arms race to continue, at all.. And in my post, I was referring to yesterday's (apparant) events. I don't like it when any nation decides to test their nuclear weapons. But we have to separate the issues here. You come at me with stuff about Hiroshima and Nagasaki and Iraq, things that were/are terrible, I agree, but we should really deal with one issue at a time here. I'm not saying North Korea should be under sanctions for having the weapons but I think they should be for using them, even if it was 'a successful test'. I'm not gonna go into the Iraq-issue with you because, quoting Erik, I should refrain myself from going into something I only know so much about. But we're discussing the events of yesterday in this thread, and I believe that any nation which decides to put in use nuclear weapons should be considered a threat to the world peace. I know I may sound like you-know-who right now but this truly how I feel. Am I not allowed to be concerned when a hermit nation like this one, communist and totalitarian as it is, detonates a nuclear bomb underground?
Your contribution to this debate overall is: "If one nation has nuclear arms, all the others should have them too." .."If one nation does evil, every other nation should too." .. I'm sorry man, but I just don't think we'll be better off by this mentality.
Read into my comments what you will, but let me just performatively declare right now that I
do not want any small nation to be in possession of nuclear weapons. Realistically, you will never get the superpowers to get rid of theirs, so that's a thought one must shelf immediately, but one can stop the spread of these weapons by going after 'the others'. I'm talking against many of my own principles here, I really am, but I just can't see us coming anywhere near to world peace if all these small parts of the World acquire such weapons.
As for what you said about killing innocents in North Korea: No, I do not want that to happen.
