He has been playing (and playing well) for Southampton all season. He's not some unknown quantity.

to be fair though he has been brilliant for southampton this season, I think he and Clyne have been one of the top performing fullbacks in the prem this season

Roma is so desperate for defenders right now and for some reason they sold Jedvaj, one of the best U20 defenders in the world, to Leverkusen for 7 mil... Peanuts. He's been fantastic for Leverkusen this year.

WTF? Why didn't they bring him back?

Instead they use those funds to bring in Ibarbo.

It's like when Real Madrid sign players and sell them. Everyone Chelsea buys is established and of a good age, because they are very wealthy and are just stacking players.

On the other hand there is Torres, Shevchenko, Crespo and all the others from the old days, when they made more experienced signings. Quality aged 20-26 is high value and mostly out of our price range.

I thought Schürrle's transfer fee was €27m, now I am reading its a little more than €30m wtf. Damn good strategy and foresight of Chelsea's mgmt if true. English media don't seem to give Chelsea managemet/transfer directors credit for these transfers: D.Luiz, Mata, Lukaku, Schürrle, none 1st team players all sold for more than €30m.

I wouldnt believe the numbers that r mentioned especially not the Bild, cos I m sure they dont have the correct numbers and were just pulling them out of their asses. Wolfsburg were strict and set a limit, so I would be wondered, if the pay more than 30m€. But maybe Allofs moved a bit towards them so wouldnt rule out 32m€ completely.

Roma were not able to bring him back immediately, as Jedvaj has a loan contract with Leverkusen until 2016. The only possibilities were, to not take the money and wait until 2016 to get him back (Leverkusen had an option to buy though, but Roma also a buy-back option on top of it..seems bit complicated contract. They obviously decided to cash in instead of waiting for another 18 months and then facing an uncertain situation.

I totally agree, that 7m€ for Jedvaj is a bargain..fantastic deal for Leverkusen if true.
