Why..He'd walk into City's defense easily. They're close to signing Sagna also so suddenly City's backline could look very solid.I agree with Dule..If they end up signing both Benatia and Sagna ,i think they can be CL contenders for next season.
I'm not very fond of the club and then, I'd also love it if we purchased him - impossible, I know.

Anyways, City CL contenders? Nah. Imo, they'd still need a few years even with those signings since choking in Europe is strong within the club.

Mehdi Benatia is one of the hottest names on the transfer market. The statements made by the Moroccan defender have increased the transfer rumors, but Roma has no intention of selling him. Manchester City is certainly interested, and they have taken concrete steps to acquire him but Roma doesn’t even want to begin a negotiating with the English club. On Saturday Roma sporting director Sabatini will do a press conference to clarify the situation, he has no intention of getting in a debate through the media with one of his key players. Roma is making their intentions known, they don not want to sell Benatia.

Xherdan Shaqiri admits he may have to leave Bayern Munich and says a move to England 'would be an option'.
The talented Switzerland international forward has spent the last two seasons at the Allianz Arena, with Bayern having prevailed in the scramble for his signature back in 2012.
The 22-year-old faces stiff competition for places at the German champions, though, and was restricted to just 10 Bundesliga starts in the 2013/14 campaign.
Shaqiri acknowledges that he now has a big decision to make, with it possible that he may have to look elsewhere for regular game time.

A man who has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League in the past told 20 Minuten: "It's clear that I cannot continue like this. If nothing changes, I will have to make some changes myself.
"I want to play in the important games as well and not just in the Bundesliga. I don't want to go through another year like this.
"I only want to play for a major club. The Champions League is important to me. We will see what happens.
"England would be an option. If I were to leave Bayern, it will be for a foreign club. But it will have to be a club challenging for the title."

How much? I don't rate him as high as some around here do but would be good addition if we plan to play 4-3-3 and isn't too much i.e. ~10-12m
