The thought behind the transfer is probably that Luiz and Silva do form a truly amazing partnership in the NT, even Luiz doesn't fuck up there, or, at least very rarely. If they can replicate this partnership at PSG as well, the move wouldn't be as retarded.
It will also be hugely effective from a marketing point of view I imagine.
PS: Is Luiz now the most expensive defender in history?
If you count him as defender and not DM that is.

That's pretty much it. Luiz and Silva are quite a pair. The chemistry between them in the pitch is unquestionable.
And two, if Brazil ends up winning the World Cup, imagine how much money with merchandise they will make from having Brazil's 2 defenders. From a marketing point of view it could be a genius move.
Yet, in my personal opinion it's too much, way too much. Money laundering is obvious here.
Now Chelsea has to pay 60-70m for Cavani to mirror the strategy of majority Italian clubs at the end of last century. Very fishy deal and I wouldn't exclude that these two are trying to boost their revenues.
Who said it was only for merchandise. As both Ocelot and i stated, they're quite good together. If they replicate what they do for Brazil, PSG will have quite a solid defense. Obviously it's a big IF, but this deal is far for retarded from both point of views.
