Özil is pretty much 100% done without getting the official confirmation yet, he is physically in Arsenals stadium/HQs, and Real has already taken back his La Liga registeration. Its pretty much done.

Man UTD officially had the worst mercato, with Cleverly and Carrick the main creative force.I think Catania has more creative midfield. They are Van Persie injury away from fighting for Europa League.

Regarding the Failure of the Herrera deal -

Radio 5 Live - it was down to beurocratic reasons. Apparently buy out clauses involve giving the player the cash so they can buy out of the contracts with their club. This can throw up tax issues if it is seen as an income for the player by the Spanish tax man. Basically they seem to have the cash but its a huge ball ache to sort out, and with a couple of hours left was a non starter.

"Some bizarre reports coming out regarding United's collapsed Herrera deal. Apparently a group of men claiming to be United representatives spent an hour at the La Liga offices in Madrid today, but it turns out they had nothing to do with the club and were presumably just attempting to get a cut of the deal in an elaborate fraud.

"Must be stressed these are just rumours but the Spanish media have published pictures of men in black suits - supposedly the United "representatives" - coming out of the league offices carrying briefcases.

"All very strange and no doubt the truth will come out in the next few days."
