I don't think you're right.
Everything and everyone has a price, and an offer is gonna be accepted if club think he's (not) worth so much. Eto'o when he was a world class striker went to a shit club. But it's not even the case at this point. Sure, Lamela is a huge talent. But let's face it, Tottenham has a lot better chance of getting into top 4, rather than Roma reaching top 3. And I'm not saying what Roma is doing is right, but looking at the whole picture, it's not surprising if he goes to EPL which is still a damn strong league.
Maybe the offer was high but that player is worth it. It seems he's a beast and his price will double in two years time. He's even Holland's captain at his age. I highly doubt they'll regret spending that much on him. It can be one of their best transfers easily.
