don't think it was a paycut issue - iirc, he wanted considerably more than what he was getting paid at Inter. I imagine that's what he got Galata to agree to, considering he is still relatively young and a move there basically puts an end to his career or at least the part of it that matters.

actually I just checked and it seems Galata is giving him even less - 5 mil. I think he was on 6-7 mil at Inter, as you mentioned.

I was referring, however, to the last summer or winter mercato when he looked destined to move to the EPL, mainly Manu U and City. Then he was asking for a bigger payday than what he was already getting at Inter and that eventually ruined things. Also, Anzhi at the time was rumored to had offered him 10+mil/season.
