it's not off, just in a "waiting" stage - the Yanga transfer saga has just merely started . This being, he is a great prospect but not someone I expect to have immediate impact anyway.
Granqvist is good player but with Acerbi and yepes there, if Milan do sign a new defender, it would be someone with the characteristics of T. Silva - smaller, more mobile defender, who can intercept the attack away from goal, something Granqvist just isn't

From what I read Montpellier aren't easy to deal with. But it's Yanga-Mbiwa's last year on his contract so maybe it's still possible.

They could have Nani-Kagawa-Lucas behind Rooney and they still have Ashley..maybe Nani is going?

why? because we sold a 28 yo defender for 45m+bonus and a 31 yo great individualist but poor team player for 25+bonus?
don't think so ... it's tough time for Italian football altogether and you'll see that in the end Milan and Juve would be at about the same level and circumstances/situations will decide who wins or not. Milan may have "lost" Ibra but you guys aren't exactly getting RVP or another player of similar caliber either. Italian teams altogether have taken a back seat in European football now.

sure, you paid big money for Asamoah and Isla but these are depth players of local importance, not WC ones that would take the team to a higher level ... similar impact one can find for a lot less out there.

All in all, the trend here seems to be to grossly underestimate Milan (and other teams too), while grossly overestimating Juve ... feel free to color me surprised

You can look at it as a "28 yo defender" Same way Galianni and Alegri saw Pirlo as a 32 yo midfielder. Matter is him and Nesta where the only reason you even stood a chance in CL and Serie A. And Ibra carried you on his back in the Serie A. + It wouldn't be so bad if you guys had a decent midfield with a decent trequartista but you failed at that as well. The fact that allegri isn't tactically flexible is gonna make it really hard for this milan side to get results

The only problem I had with selling TS now was that Milan lost both him and Nesta at the same time but don't forget that no single player is irreplaceable - it's a team sport and the results of team depend on the team's balance as a whole. And the mercato isn't over just yet, is it

Ibra was good to have in some aspects but limited the team in others, including Allegri's tactics - it's true that Allegri hasn't shown tactical flexibility but at the same time, I have yet to see him coach an Ibra-less Milan, so the jury is still out on that one, as far as I am concerned.

I was hoping he would leave actually - a great individual player, a true joy to watch but he limited the team to a big extent too.

a great team is usually equivalent to having great balance within the team not when there is one particular player in the focus. Of course having a great player in a particular position is welcomed but not when that player is too strong an individualist and that hurts the team as a result, which has always been the case with Ibra, throughout his career, not just at Milan.

AC, one thing that I think that you, as a Milan fan, will ahve to concern yourself with, are the words of Berlusconi when he mentioned the massive amount of wages that were going to be saved from selling off Silva and Ibra. Milan, I think, have two options for this season in the transfer market.

#1) They go out and get two players of a similar caliber of Silva and Ibra for the CB and CF positions, respectively. However, the drawbacks are these: The amounts needed to be spent in wages and transfer fees could potentially negate most of what was gained in the sale of Silva and Ibra, while it would be unlikely that the replacements would be of similar caliber, so in the end, Milan could still be worse off than they were a year ago.

#2) Purchase 3-4 young players with the money and build towards the future. The obvious drawback to that would be whether or not the milan faithful would accept what would amount to be a "bridge year" for the club, having to take a step back to take a step two steps forward.

Personally, I would go with the 2nd option myself, but I think that Milan would have to act quicker than what they are doing now if this were to be their plan. The young players will need to get as much time as needed to acclimate themselves into the system
