Barcelona need Fabregas. Xavi cannot play 60+ games in a year without his legs getting ruined.
There are like 15 teams in La Liga that Barca can easily beat without Xavi. Multiplied by 2 those are around 30 matches. Lets make it 20 matches that Barca will win with a Mascherano, Iniesta, Busquets midfield.
They seriously don't need a 40m eur midfielder who'll spend a big amount of time on the bench, when that same midfielder will be a sure starter and one of the best in every other big club.

Of course Barça don't need Fabregas. They just want him, and he was willing, so they got him. Why not? Adds star power.

They are spending this amount for the long term future of the club. Fabregas will probably be a rotation for a couple of seasons until Xavi starts to decline, before he is gradually a starter for them.

Squad depth is also being taken care of. They did really well to keep all their players fit for so long, but with many of them going far in every single competition they play for the club (and many of them for Spain), they are going to burn out before they should be.

So who shall captain Arsenal now?
Van Persie i guess. Thank god he's so injury prone, or else he would be off to Real Madrid by now.

And the people that run your club?
Fuck them too. Especially our cheapskate board, who have been holding us back for god knows how long. Bunch of expired old fucks, the day David Dein left, was the day Arsenal died.

I can totally understand why Barca buy Fabregas. They have Xavi who's getting older and Fabregas wants to move back home. That I can understand, but Sanchez? As some already pointed out, in Barcelona the only player who can be dominant with the ball is Messi. You guys think he will be content with being Messi's sidekick?
