See, the TADS is the Target Aqusition and Designation Sight, it is the laser, which is the whole lower part under the PNVS.
The PNVS is the Pilot Night Vision System, the night and day sides of the TADS correspond with the "day TV" which allows the pilot to use the dayside to see through smoke and stuff during the day, and also the nightside allows a similar system, but the front seat, the co-pilot/gunner uses it to look for targets, etc. Both systems use a laser aquisition system.
