++ [ originally posted by IncuboRossonero ] ++PAUL: I'm not sure which FOOTBALL FACTORY version I have...I purchased the DVD in London..so its probably not the unedited version or whatever.
I have not checked out Lords of War just yet but its nice to see Nic Cage is getting back to his old style rather than the crap he has generated in since his Oscar win.
I have seen the REVOLVER trailer...I thought Lock, Stock was fvckin awesome....Snatch was a more expensive version of Lock, Stock and the Swept Away (no comment)...any release dates for the U.S.?
Personally I thought some of Hornby's ideas and theories about being a 'fan' in Fever Pitch were spot on ... the type of book that is a good read after your team is up 3-0 at half time and goes on to lose the match.
By the way Paul...you familiar with Il Barone?? I always tried to convince him to write a book ....
I can't stand the Red Sox nor their 'delusions of grandeur' (quoting the Palermo Prez.) nor can I stand their fans...they look down on the Yankees and their fans as band-wagon fans or a team that has no pride despite kicking their sorry arses for 86 years..
Curse my ass...it all comes down to CLASS....Dimaggio, Mantle, Ruth, Gehrig, Berra.
Sueing them for emotional damage was a goldmine though
And I don't want to say that I've definitely "left and will never come back" (ring any bells, Balta? ) cause we all know that you can never *really* leave these boards. But as long as it stays boring and I stay busy; you won't see much of me on here...
And that is just logic and common sense I would think :undecide:
FVCK Baseball indeed. I cannot stand the sport and I can tell you right now I won't be watching one game of the playoffs or World Series this year, just like the past five years or so. Not worth the time to watch such a boring display of preposterousness.

Not sure what you mean by "pure" Lou, however in my opinion American football and basketball are far better and more exciting sports. I played baseball for most of my childhood and have come to hate it, probably because I finally realized it was a waste of time.

I like it for the some of the same reasons I like calcio:
1.it is played by average sized guys (well, we won't mention Unit )
2. the people that play it can actually speak English/their native language fluently (well, mostly)
3. baseball represents a cross section of America (ie, the ethnic groups are represented pretty much in the same percentages as they are in the general population)
4. there are no (or few) what I call hoods (Manny Ramirez phone home)
