I like it for the some of the same reasons I like calcio:

1.it is played by average sized guys (well, we won't mention Unit ;) )
2. the people that play it can actually speak English/their native language fluently (well, mostly)
3. baseball represents a cross section of America (ie, the ethnic groups are represented pretty much in the same percentages as they are in the general population)
4. there are no (or few) what I call hoods (Manny Ramirez phone home)
the reasons you gave just lost the argument !!!:D

I grew up a Yankee fan (and I also liked the Mets when I was younger, too)

my parents were also Yankee fans.....along with the rest of this city

But baseball is such a pure game (I am not speaking of the scandals, obviously, but of the game itself).
Pure? How? Not to argue, just to understand what you mean here, Lou.

I would consider soccer is a pretty pure sport, IMO. But not a team sport that essentially centers around two people, occasionally involves others of the pitching team, and spends long stretches with almost no involvement of much of the batting team. Then throw in the rules about balks, sacrifice flies, etc... It adds layers of complexity rather quickly.

Lest I be misunderstood, amico mio ;)

I really only had a peripheral interest in baseball. Just out of high school I went to Italy, and discovered calcio and was hooked. I literally spent the next 25 years trying to find calcio (on TV, and here ;) ).

If my love for calcio is a 10, then baseball is a 7.
If an important calcio match was on and an important baseball game, I watch the calcio, tape the baseball.

Having said that: it's the "normalness" of baseball (and calcio, too) that I find so appealing. Normal guys that aren't 7 ft tall, or weigh 350 pounds. I mean, how tall is DP? 5'10"?

It's why I like F1, too, for that matter. I would not stand out in a crowd of calcio players; most baseball players, or F1 drivers.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, other than what they do, they are just average guys.

Makes sense?

BASEBALL, BASEBALL, THER'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!
"A league of their own "- 1992

I only remember this movie because I went to see it at the drive-in with some hot chick I just started dating

never really got to see the whole movie........

I was rounding third base, and scoring a home run before they even started showing any baseball in the movie :D:D:D

I getcha. There's something to be said about following a sport where you don't have to be a genetic mutant with hypodermic needles hanging from your thighs in order to make a career of it.

But taken to the extreme, you get things like bowling and poker on ESPN... :yuck:

Otherwise, you might have cried at that movie for other reasons.

That's a rather dumb assumption, don't you think Zlatan? I mean, if you actually have the ability to read minds perhaps you would be a little more than a student and a forum moderator.

Nothing to do with mind reading, just some observation.

Because she was banned once, the whole point is to not let her post, not to let her sign up under a different account. Whats pretty lame is her continuing to re register.
