That's simply not an argument, Erik. I see where you're going here, but that's not correct. I have lost many friends to malaria and I lost my grandfather to cancer. But that doesn't mean I know it so much better than someone who hasn't lost a loved one to a disease.
So no, I haven't lost a friend on an exploded train, but I have lost friends. In the end, the result is the same.

I've lost 5 relatives to cancer, there's a big difference between losing someone through an illness than through a terror attack.
Look we're obviously not going to agree here and I'm not going to go all grandmother on your ass by saying you should be more sensitive for the plain reason that I don't like to try and change people.

.But I'm done with this. Whenever I post something about an issue like this, someone feels the need to attack me. I even could have simply said I was sorry this happened and I still would have been attacked. They probably would have thought I was being sarcastic to begin with.
So this time my mind's made up. I'm quitting this forum. Perhaps I'll return to posting when there's a friendlier environment, but ATM I'm done with ADP discussions and most of the Americans. Most of all Andy TBH. He abuses things like this, which is an utter disgrace.

But to Seven's defense here, we as a collective society tend to elevate the tragedy and relative "merits" of deaths when they happen to take place in the context of mass disaster and mass murder. Meanwhile, the working single mom who loses her only child to gun violence in her own neighborhood has no monuments to her son's death, no dedicated days of social remembrance, etc., and yet her loss is as great and deeply painful as anyone's who lost a loved one in the Sept 11th tragedy.
That's not to say that we shouldn't recognize the horror of what happened on Sept 11th. But we should at least be aware of our human tendencies to express our sympathies, prayers, homages, and even our aid and support disproportionately to victims of front-page, acute disasters when compared to society's more chronic losses. For every wish to memorialize those who die in an airliner crash, there are far more victims and far less recognition given to those who die in equally tragic automobile accidents.
Relatedly, it's just human nature to be more fearful of airline travel than automobile travel. We're just mentally programmed to ignore the "small" stuff and focus on the big things. Even if the "small stuff" is collectively far more devastating as a whole.

The comments may not have been anti-American but they were a) made at the wrong time and not by coincidence...he is one of those guys that will say anything to spark a 'bad' reaction and go against any sort of 'tide' or solidarity that may exist...you guys 'understood' ... it is appreciated.
