All I'm saying is:

You could have said it tomorrow.

Or yesterday.

Do you get it yet?
No. I couldn't have. That's the bloody point. If there is any day people need to think about terrorism it's today. I just happened to see a picture of those two towers and I said I felt they were ugly and unsafe.

And what does terrorism have to do with your opinion on the aesthetics of two skyscrapers?

On a day like this, people want to think about the tragedy, take a moment to remember the friends they lost when those two towers fell to the ground.

We'll think about terrorism every other day of the year. Every day we're fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, every day when the alarm bells ring on trainstations, every day when airports are being evacuated, every day when bombs consume our cities.

But not on an anniversary of something as big as this. Don't you get it? All that matters today is the people who died 4 years ago. At least give people the opportunity to remember their friends for the first five anniversaries after such a tragedy.

Then get back to us with plans and designs on how to improve the safety of skyscrapers tomorrow morning, 9am.

Exaggeration to prove a point.

As for terrorism, have you ever lost a friend on an exploded train or had to replace your windows because a bomb went off 5 blocks away?

That's simply not an argument, Erik. I see where you're going here, but that's not correct. I have lost many friends to malaria and I lost my grandfather to cancer. But that doesn't mean I know it so much better than someone who hasn't lost a loved one to a disease.

So no, I haven't lost a friend on an exploded train, but I have lost friends. In the end, the result is the same.

No its not.... Its completely different to lose a friend / relative to a disease than it is to terrorism....
Not exactly. My guess is that the difference is that you don't expect it to happen. But you can loose someone to a disease very fast as well. As for the "why him?" question, that's the same as well.

I've lost 5 relatives to cancer, there's a big difference between losing someone through an illness than through a terror attack.

Look we're obviously not going to agree here and I'm not going to go all grandmother on your ass by saying you should be more sensitive for the plain reason that I don't like to try and change people.

Just don't act surprised when you drop a bomb like that the next time and people pick at you for it will yer? It makes me feel... icky :D

First of all I blame Zlatan for that disgusting avatar :D. The guy does look fit though.

Second of all, I still don't think it was THAT bad. Sergio and Nick made it look like it was, but I didn't say anything that provocative or offensive. There's a difference in saying "the Americans had it coming" or "big buildings involve risks".

He does, doesn't he? :lick: Wouldn't say no to a piece of that

Couldn't resist :D

Just try to put yourself in their position before you touch your keyboard, OK Betsy? I gotta do it all day long in this horrible world full of straight people so I'm sure you can pull it off once or twice a day. ;)

You CLEARLY don't know me :D.

But I'm done with this. Whenever I post something about an issue like this, someone feels the need to attack me. I even could have simply said I was sorry this happened and I still would have been attacked. They probably would have thought I was being sarcastic to begin with.

So this time my mind's made up. I'm quitting this forum. Perhaps I'll return to posting when there's a friendlier environment, but ATM I'm done with ADP discussions and most of the Americans. Most of all Andy TBH. He abuses things like this, which is an utter disgrace.

Oh, and I don't want to be dramatic or anything here. I just don't really like it here anymore.

But to Seven's defense here, we as a collective society tend to elevate the tragedy and relative "merits" of deaths when they happen to take place in the context of mass disaster and mass murder. Meanwhile, the working single mom who loses her only child to gun violence in her own neighborhood has no monuments to her son's death, no dedicated days of social remembrance, etc., and yet her loss is as great and deeply painful as anyone's who lost a loved one in the Sept 11th tragedy.

That's not to say that we shouldn't recognize the horror of what happened on Sept 11th. But we should at least be aware of our human tendencies to express our sympathies, prayers, homages, and even our aid and support disproportionately to victims of front-page, acute disasters when compared to society's more chronic losses. For every wish to memorialize those who die in an airliner crash, there are far more victims and far less recognition given to those who die in equally tragic automobile accidents.

Relatedly, it's just human nature to be more fearful of airline travel than automobile travel. We're just mentally programmed to ignore the "small" stuff and focus on the big things. Even if the "small stuff" is collectively far more devastating as a whole.

TBH, IMO Seven is just like my grandfather: If I, or someone else for that matter, says: "the sky is blue", he'll immidiately say "Fuck no, the sky aint blue!" "What color is it then, gramps?" "I dont know sonny, but it aint blue!"

He always has to be on the opposing end of an argument.

Really Seven, thats incredibly poor timing and lack of tact.

To Erik and Paul who GET it ... Thank you. The comments may not have been anti-American but they were a) made at the wrong time and not by coincidence...he is one of those guys that will say anything to spark a 'bad' reaction and go against any sort of 'tide' or solidarity that may exist...you guys 'understood' ... it is appreciated.

Sergio: Why make him win? He's only point was to 'test the waters' and see what type of reaction he will get...fvck him. He's gone and if he comes back here I'll make sure he doesn't want to post here again..your a much more valuable poster on Juve and beyond than he can ever be.
First time I arrived here and took the Milan-Juve discussion to a certain level I was greeted with sh*t slinging insults .. (I too was not innocent in certain aspects) but one poster decided to drop the MILAN AND YOUR MOTHER SUCK posts and welcomed the 'change' and 'diverse football opinion'. You convinced me to stay....now do the same bro

    personally, I like the guy.

Sure, he stepped over the line on more than one occasion, but I think he's settled in to how this forum operates, for I'm sure he knows now what kind of rythmn we have here. Maybe he underestimated our knowledge not just for Juve, but for football in general, but I think he realized that we're much more knowledgable than he thought.

I've never had a problem with him, and usually my conversations with him, in whichever language we choose, has been pleasant and informative. I'll admit though, that he definitely got off on the wrong foot with a lot of people, and I see that he's trying to mend fences, because despite his hatred for Juve, he probably does want to bounce ideas and topics off of people. So we should probably give him the benefit of the doubt, and see where this leads.

It's not such a bad thing to have an opinionated Milanista in the forum, we could use a change of pace once in a while, provided it's not offensive. Sometimes we as Juve supporters get so engulfed in the team's success that we forget that this is not a team without some flaws, and a different perspective can be a benefit to all of us.
