edit: I just had the greatest idea, Im going to get lost in something for a week. Later.

Could someone explain to me what the f*ck is going on in New Orleans??

1. Why has FEMA, the American Red Cross and Homeland Security been sitting on their arses??
FEMA has not been sitting on their asses Nick....they have been doing their best trying to fill in all the holes. The biggest problem facing these organizations in sending help to New Orleans is the logistics of such a task...80% of the city is under water and 90% of the ways in to the city have been cut off due to storm damage or other contributing factors. Plus, helicopters held off dropping supplies to the victims due to the lack of law inforcement in the area and an unruly crowd below....not a good mix right after a disaster like this.

2. Why haven't they deployed workers to the Superdome before anything else? Its hell on earth in there.
1) The main focus was trying to save the thousands of people stranded on their rooftops or awaiting their death wading through 8 feet of water.

2) Supposedly FEMA was not aware that people were being sent to the Convention Center due to the Mayor of New Orleans and his officials not telling the Feds about it. FEMA only learned about the grave situation at the Convention Center on Wednesday....absolutely ridiculous. Total lack of comunication.

3) There was just not enough resources to secure the population on all fronts...so the officials just focused on rescuing those in desperate need of help, as I stated above.

4) Ask Bush....he acted a bit late on this situation himself if you ask me. As soon as the eye wall was smacking into New Orleans Bush should have been preparing the National Guard, FEMA, and all other rescue entities for the worst, instead of just waiting out the storm. Furthermore, if at all possible, he should have convened Congress much much earlier instead of just calling for such an action almost three days after the storm came ashore. Even I could have told the government the implications of such a storm and it's aftermath. All in all, almost every single federal entity and organization fouled this whole situation up....and after such a horrible event that this country has not seen anything like in decades, you have to expect some mistakes. But not this many.

And while browsing another forum, I see people talking their ass faces off of how this disaster was all President Bush's fault....everything from him not signing the Kyoto Treaty to his his involvement with Iraq and God's rageful revenge and all that horseshit. Indeed, the worst of humanity crawls out of the gutter in such terrible events.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how much the world's public will conjure up. I'll tell you what though, I'm not expecting much.

However, the countries that indeed offered help thus far deserve a thank you at least.

Venezuela's president, who openly dislikes the Bush administration and America in general, donated $1 million and oil

One of the most ridiculous opinions I have seen thus far on this disaster, pulled from another forum:

And above all may God open the eyes of George W Bush and alikes who put Profit ahead of Environment and may they go to sign the Kyoto Agreement they withdrew from after taking over from Bill Clinton who had instead signed it

If they had had more feelings about forests for instance,
trees, grass, earth could have absorbed and sheltered much
of that water. And the fact that the Greenhouse Effect that
has made all this world weather so unpredictable and surprising,
is due to carbon dioxide emission that the Bush Government has
refused to curb by not adhering to Kyoto Agreement.
This is almost laughable.

Personally I know we don't need anyone's help besides maybe Canada who can lend helping hands from rescue workers to medics to peace keepers (they actually have the best PEACE KEEPING FORCE in the World believe it or not ..they 'invented' the UN blue helmets) .... the point was:
Let's see WHAT the reaction will be.....
Canada, Italy, Australia and of course Britain will bend over backwards...its the 'grey zone' nations I wonder about....

Andy: FEMA fvcked this up....big time. Logistics is a bullsh*t excuse....they knew people were swarming into the Superdome and Conference Center because they suggested to the MAYOR they be directed there..in return there was no water, food, order or directions at the Superdome and THERE STILL IS NOT. They have no excuse....the effort was on RESCUE but they didn't realize that even people on DRY LAND needed to be rescued from starvation, etc.

I'm not Bush's biggest fan...nor may I even be a Republican however I know how people become once they formed an opinion on an individual...they turned their heads and yell 'guilty' before they know the facts.

True that, FEMA's priority was to save those in the most critical of conditions and seemingly forgot about those at the Superdome. However, the MAYOR and his council are at fault for not notifying FEMA and the Feds that they were sending people to the Convention Center. As I stated before, FEMA did not know about this until Wednesday....a day and a half after the fact. This was the Mayor's fvckup, so indeed there were fvckups by every single organizition and entity involved. Just not good enough.

I'm not Bush's biggest fan...nor may I even be a Republican however I know how people become once they formed an opinion on an individual...they turned their heads and yell 'guilty' before they know the facts.
The only blame you can place on Bush is what I stated earlier about convening Congress immediatly after the fact and getting things organized before...but to blame him for this Hurricane actually coming ashore and causing so much damage is just retarded and scientifically fraudulent.

    Good initiative Fratello
The least I could do was contribute a decent chunk of money.

    I'm anemic, so I can't give blood.

We already pooled our money and sent 2000.00 worth of supplies from our workplace to the Red Cross today.

My only comments about the disaster are that the gov't had no idea just how bad New Orleans would suffer, until the levees broke. Had this not happened, things would have been much different.

I dont imagine too many countries helping us out, but , sometime in the near future, some other country will be begging for help after some disaster or famine, and IMO, we should just turn our backs for once, and be concerned with our own, and our real friends

I have no problem with ppl taking food from stores to survive. Me personally, if I had to do it, I would take what I needed, and when this tragedy was over, I would go back to the store, find the manager, and pay for the items I took. I'm no thief or burglar...its the right thing to do

As far as these ppl taking plasma tv's, jewelry, and firearms, and running back to the highrise housing project they live in with the goods, to sell them later, or commit a crime with the weapons, I have no problem with the governor giving the order of shooting to kill

If they want to be savages, lets treat them like savages
