Paul, could you please explain this part a little further? What's the normal procedure for first-timers going to watch a match in the stadium?
Best advice for first timers to home matches... Dont buy tickets for the 2nd level of curva scirea.... Its not worth risking if you have traveled to see the match.
The curva is controlled by the fans not the police or the club.
If for some reason they dont like the look of you or dont like your accent... You will be refused entry... And there is no one to go and complain to and wave your ticket at... The curvas decision is final.
Even if you do indeed get into the curva, you must also remember that there is no seating plan in curva scirea... You sit depending on what group you are a member of or who you know (working from centre front outwards).
So if you do get into level 2 the chances are you will be sitting in a corner somewhere... No matter what your ticket says.
Alot of the people on the curva are absolute thugs... you cant fvck around with these guys.
Also due to the lack of a seating plan... on a big match it is overcrowded and as such you get pick pockets... yes they normally get caught and have the shit kicked out of them... but you wont get your stuff back... So if you go, be careful about cameras etc.
Seriously... Unless your going with people that sit there normally or its a small game where few turn up... Sit somewhere else.
Away matches are different in that if you have a ticket, you will get in... But the same applies as to seating.
Supporters groups will sit centre front, whatever their tickets say... Dont argue about it, just go and sit elsewhere.
Supporters at italian grounds are often not bothered about seat allocation... they jus find their section and pick a seat.
People that mind this system... generally pay the extra and sit in tribuna where they get the seat they asked for... its a better view as well
Ive only seen this cause a problem when at cl games away from home... Where you get foreign juve fans getting upset as someones in their seat.
