I'm not saying it wasn't a disaster, but would it have been such a disaster if it had happened in Africa? Don't think so. And wouldn't it be more usefull to invest all that money in fighting against world hunger instead of anti-terrorism?

I don't mean there wasn't a tragedy that day. But I believe the media sometimes stress 9/11 too much, whilst we could save a lot more lives by fighting world hunger.

oh come on guys, I agree that there's so many other tragedies happening in the world, but there's really no point whining about issues like world hunger and saying "why mourn 9/11 when ____ is happening in the world", if you're not gonna do anything about it. So until you care enough about these issues to actually take action, there's no point in saying anything about it...

there's 364 other days in the year to talk about starving children, yet you suddenly start acting like you care so much on the day that the victims of 9/11 should be remembered...

i knew that statement didnt sound right.

i meant not mych is done to fight world hunger, poverty in third world countries etc. but there is not much that we, ordinary people, can do about it. thats why i said "gotta deal with it". sure, we care, we do some little things but that wont dolve anything, people with the power of changing something has to take some actions. which they dont and i believe wont.

People don't realize that a few people on this forum, most notably the 4 Americans who post here the most, Myself, Vinman, Padovano, and Incubo, are all born and raised within a 150 mile radius of New York City. I know a handful of people who work in New York City who are transplanted from Rhode Island, who happened to be in the area when the attacks took place. Thankfully, none of them were hurt or killed, but can I say the same for any of Pado, Incubo or Vinman's friends?? I don't know, and certainly the people who don't live here know that for sure as well.

One Day.

That's all we ask. One Day, this day, to remember the victims of the most heinous attack on our country.

This does not, in any way, demean the rest of the problems going on in the world, but I won't apologize for taking this day to stop and remember and reflect, and quite frankly, think of the relevance of September 11th.

@Seven - Please don not forget that some of the famine in Africa is created by man, by the government (Zimbabwe) in an effort to remain in power, by rival warlords (Somalia) using donated food sources as currency, and is completely preventable. Also, a lot is caused by the region not having any rain for the last seven years, and I suppose some people would like to blame the USA for that too. But, its not like somebody rounded up three thousand African children on this date and and dropped a billion ton building on top of them. Apples to oranges to my friend.

So you believe that all the money we invest in the war against terrorism couldn't be used more wisely in the war against famine? I'm just looking at it economically: we could save more lives by fighting famine with less money. Those children can't help it they don't sell as well as terrorists, now can they?

Do you guys know we actually have the ability to solve world hunger? We could do that you know, but we decide not to. Why?

There are governments out there preventing their citizens to get properly fed. And we don't care. We care about terrorists. What if Afghanistan would have been wealthy? If everyone there had a nice life? Would there be so much suicide-terrorists? Don't think so.

And Gray, 9/11 only was special because it hit America. Oh my god, it weren't obscure Africans that died that day, but it were American citizens. Well boohoo, why are Americans better people?

Oh and Gray, you're right, I don't mourn about 9/11. Frankly, I don't even care. I don't know anyone of the people that died back then and the number of deaths wasn't all that spectacular. So yes, I mourn more about a problem that kill way more people on a consistent basis.

We probably can't solve terrorism, but we can solve world hunger. So why focus on the first?

Sergio, I missed the game. St. Raphael's Church had their annual carnival last night (walking distance to my house) and I just had to take Sofia. She had a great time and went on her first carnival ride - 13 months old and driving the tug boat
