Jus had a look at vins profile and pic... have to say after the portrait people have drawn... i expected this hulking great guy... needless to say ,surprised how small he is
OK, OK, now your going too far....

I dont consider 5'101/2 185 pounds and 6 percent bodyfat to be "small"

Maybe you looked at the wrong persons pic or your not wearing your glasses !!!!

sounds reasonable....

I have a question....

As you have stated before, you like the weights... yes / no

Now you ride a police mountain bike iirc

Does your keaness for the weights not effect your ability on the bike.

I ask because...

I am a keen cyclist covering around 250 - 300 miles a week.
As weve discussed before i also kick box.

Now in general the two activities (plus football) give me the balance i require.

However last year when i was convinced by her ladyship to enter a few kickboxing comps for the first time in 8 or so years... it required me to bulk up somewhat to be at my best... now this seriously hampered my cycling and as such i had to drop out of my cycling club for a few months whilst kick boxing as i didnt feel i was doing the club justice...

So do you feel the use of weights hinders you in anyway or that maybe you would be more effective on the bike if you cut the weights down?

sounds like you were over-doing your activities

between the weights, kickboxing and cycling, it seems like you are overtraining.

Why did you have to bulk up to kickbox ???? Usually , you lose weight when you are boxing/kickboxing training , I know that I use to

I really dont weight train that heavy anymore, especially since I play soccer a few times a week

remember to stretch to stay flexible while weight training too....

No not at all... pretty much allways followed the same routine... plus of course wing chun which me and wifey have done twice a week for the last 12 years or so

Bulk up wasnt nes the right word.. more put more muscle on in certain arears... my perfect kick boxing weight is actually around 6lbs heavier than my usual weight which is geared for cycling and football.

the type of land you live in may change the effect as well....
How flat is where you live?
Where i am i have lots of hills at around the 25 - 30 % point and added musscle is definately detrimental in these conditions... that will hopefully also indicate to you why my boxing weight is heavier

remember to stretch to stay flexible while weight training too....
well duh...

thanks for the answer vin

I have the feeling that Sergio has left the forums, and I have the feeling that he left because a small band of crybabies took him to task for a perceived mocking of Alex Samatar. I guess a few people just don't appreciate Sergio's sense of humor

    Welcome Mrs Mac :)

One Q: Is Colin really as charming as he passes by in here?
Safe to say that charm kicks in when flirting with a lady or *cough* hitting on one...
