    Question:

Any of you out there own an espresso machine??

Personally I prefer an espresso in the bar as the homemade ones all taste the same to me. However, I have to send one back home as a gift (wedding: poor sap). I was wondering if any of you had an insight on Good ones and bad ones....I think the married men (Paul, Robert and Sergio and Vincenzo) will probably have the most insight as you guys are probably forced to have espresso at home since your not allowed out of the house :cheesy:

Nick, I have a DeLonghi espresso machine. It also makes Cappuccino as well. 20 cup capacity. Good Stuff, but its still hard to compare with going to Federal Hill for some espresso and arguments with the old folks.

Too fvking predictable, you tourist bastard. "Look honey, the guy who lives in Rome gave us an espresso machine. How positively Italian, ha ha." Come on, Nick. Show some imagination. Sharp sells a $450 Air Purifier that would be lovely for a gift.

I didn't even read the part about this being a wedding gift.

Umm, Nick. Since you DO happen to live in Rome, I'm sure that there are some Italian brands out there that we are unaware of.

Actually Robert, I believe Brookstone sells an Air Purifier as well that's really nice. One of those types that is a stand alone filter that removes all of the bacteria and dust and releases negative Ions.

    Sergio, Roby, Paul:

Thanks for the input. And yes its a wedding gift for Cambridge (Mass.) Wasps I went to school with in NYC. They will eat up a gift like this bragging to friends: this E-X-PRESSO machine comes from ITALY...directly from the heartland or some Yuppie line like that...they will as happy as pigs in shite. Anyways for my engagement (yes I was engaged once upon a time) they gave me a nice 'envelope' despite not being invited.
The brands are basically the same: Pavoni, Gaggia, Ranchillo, Saeco, Cimbali (Industrial), etc. However the retailers here all push one specific brand so they will throw shite like "water steaming monitoring system" Sistema dell'aqua...pressione...il motor per la crema...yada yada yada..I figure its best to just hear it from actual users.

Paul: Before you beat the crap out of me you better wake up and apologize "Fighter"...I'm not a Nutella with Pasta eating dwarf...but out of curiosity was this guy (who you once saw chowing it down) eating at your wife's restaurant (i.e. does SHE serve that "masterpiece"??!)

Sounds like a winner to me, why the hesitation? Did you ask the salesman whether it makes coffee too?

Nick, did your broken engagement leave you mean and bitter? Do you find yourself lashing out at people?

Just kidding, baby. Did you ever get your picture phone to work? I need a pic of Balkey for my screen saver.
