What do people think about the absurd FIFA ruling to ban all official matches above 3,000 meters? Personally, I think it's a load of absolute bullshit. If they're going to start outlawing matches above a certain elevation because it poses a health risk, FIFA also MUST address matches that are played during days with high heat indices. That's only fucking logical and right.
How many people have died due to exhaustion in high altitudes? I was reading in World Soccer earlier on the beach that the actual FIFA report did not even include a detailed medical nor statistical description to prove that the ban is necessary. Like that's surprising. Even the overweight President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, played a match on top of a mountain that was far above 3000 fucking meters, and he's fine. Everybody is fucking fine.
So we have yet another case of rent-seeking lobbyists getting what they want, probably this time being Brazilian or Argentinian of origin. Shame is Blatter is too much of a bottle-job to oppose it despite him growing up in Switzerland of all countries. Fuck FIFA. If you're going to make such a ban, address matches being played in high heat indices. Afterall, about 500 heat-related deaths are reported per year in the United States... how many elevation-related exhaustion deaths occur every year? What bullshit.
