But the thing is, I have roots in Germany and Holland, which I'm sure you do as well. So no, dumbass, it's not racism when I say you're a little waffle-maker, because I make waffles as well. And beyond that, I originate from the same places you do, so it can't be racism, You're just reaching for straws here, you little Saltine.
You did 200 years ago, you dumbfuck. There's nothing that associates you with Germany or Holland. Let's give you a quick and clear example, the Holocaust:

Jews don't share the same race. To make it a bit more graphic, think about Falashas. Yet no one in the right mind would say there hasn't been racism towards Jews before, during and after WO II.

What makes you assume I read few books? The fact I speak English, French, Dutch, German, Italian, Latin and Ancient Greek and have read books in all said languages? And really, if it is literature you want to discuss, let's start at the beginning, shall we: Homer's Iliad. Have you read it, kind friend?
Don't you dare call me a friend, Hector. But yes I've read the Illiad a long time ago and I'm not going to lie... I don't remember much about it because I don't really care. I have more important things to do... such as find better ways to predict weather events to save lives.

When you fill out a form....does it say, white, hispanis, non hispanic, asian, african american(for example), ot does it say:

American black
American white
American with big nose
American with hat on
American with large shoes
Belgian with waffles
Belgian without waffles
Belgian at IHOP
Belgian at your house
Belgian in my pants
Belgian named Hector
I have never filled in a form where I had to write down my race and would be offended if I was asked to.

Then how can you belittle me? You don't know what the beginning of all western literature is about? Next thing you know you're telling me that "polis" doesn't ring any bells either.

Yes they do, and that's why there is so much nonsense going on in the world regarding their "promised land."

And no, dumbass, my great grandfather was born in the United States after his parents came here from Germany around the 1880's. Nice job with the mathematics, but I can't expect a history major to know about that.

History is about as easy as me walking to the store and buying waffle mix.

That's very admirable of you.

Here's an honest question: has any of you read Der Prozess? I really want to read this book, because unlike many I don't feel good talking about Kafka without having read his masterpiece. I only read the first 20 pages or so, which aroused my interest, but I wonder if the book as a whole is what's it supposed to be.

Fuck off. An Ethiopian Falasha does not share race with a New York Jew. FFS, Andy. The one's black, the other's white. Dear god.

So your great grandfather was born in the USA. How does that associate you with Germany? Have you ever been to Germany? Do you know more than three German words? What mental image do you have of the Oktoberfeste?

There's nothing German about you.

you re gonna hate a lot of what it postulates but it's worth an inspection, along with pragmatism it kind of encompasses the "maligned" spirit of America imo
TBH I try not to judge literature on whether or not I like it. I'll make sure to think about reading it.

As a sidenote: stay away from Primo Levi's Il Sistema Periodico. If anyone suggests you to read Primo Levi, for his descriptions about fascism, just go for Carlo Levi's Cristo si è fermato a Eboli.
