For me one of the main reasons i prefer the ipod is its design and user interface... especially the user interface as i have children.
The ipod in my opinion has by far the best user interface of any of the similar products available today.
Design is what you always get from the iPod camp, though. It is a great design, but not everybody wants the same sofa in their homes either.

I think there's a lot of competition out there that's just as intuitive, but you'll never convince the iPod campers because, simply, "it's not the iPod design". Can't argue with that on a lot of levels, really. iPodders will be iPodders.

Not really sure what you are getting at there.. I'm not overly knowledgable on the field, but even so, i have some 3000 tracks purchased from various legal download sites... None of which were ipod specific (except the first 100 or so which were bought from the itunes store(which i found to be poor value for money comparing price to quality) and have had no problems putting them onto the ipod.
...
I was referring to their past refusal to support open formats like Ogg Vorbis, etc.

Means nothing to me.. What matters to me is does it work without problem.. Answer for me is definately yes... Thousands of songs working perfectly... Now maybe it doesnt support certain formats etc, but in the time i've had it, its never caused a problem... I doubt it has for most other normal users (average man on the street) either...

Greg you have to remember most people have no idea what formats like Ogg Vorbis and Company are. Myself included. So while it sucks for those who use the format, it would not really matter for your normal everyday iPod user who fills it with 30gs of mp3 or porn files.

Not quite as you didnt elaborate on the words... As such, yes you are correct that they are provences, but they are also places as both are cities/towns in their own right

Figured you would CATCH ON .... esp. when I stated grapes grown in Chieti, Pescara and not Aquila...if you have been to Pescara you would know I meant the surrounding area i.e the province as there is little if any vineyards in central Pescara (city).

Whatever, in your opinion pound for pound what region produces the best wine ? or which one do you enjoy the most?

That's my personal quirk, though. I sometimes deal with a lot of independent musicians through my day job who aren't signed by major labels, etc. They often promote their music but using software that doesn't have to pay the proprietary licensing fees for some codecs -- so you see things like collections of .ogg files out there.

And I hate having my player company being so lazy as to say, "Sorry, I don't care if Winamp has a 50kb plug-in for that sort of thing and we can just as easily add it to the firmware. We won't support it."

There's just no excuse for companies to continue with the old "closed system" strategy anymore. This isn't 1972's IBM out there.

I can't stand PC's .. hate Dell, IBM, Compaq and the rest of that garbage..I have always been a MAC user and cannot understand why someone would be such a masochist that they would deal with PC's....so archaic, unuser friendly, problems every second day and so generic. I was using a Dell that was a year old and considered "junk" before the year was up while I have a 3 year old G4 laptop that still runs like new and can pretty much update every new program, interface, etc.

Another tidbit: years ago I dropped a nice chunk of change into apple stock....I watched it reach incredible heights and that chunk of change became a boatload of change :pint:
I was never a big player on the market but I invested in companies I believed in: Apple has always been the most innovative, creative and daring company which made it easier to throw money into it

    so what should i get?

all i need is good sound quality, simple browsing and easy transfers of files from my laptop to the player. apple microsoft etc.. fucked if i care about those.
I am not expert with these things, but the same file when I play it on my PC or when I connect the file thru my pc to a stereo is much better in quality than when I play it on my IPOD.

the Interface is good like Paul said, and everything is easy , transfering editing etc.. but the sound quality I am not satisfied (but also didn't check other mp3 players than IPOD), specially when you use it in your car with a cassette connector or FM transimter, I have them both..

I am also worried about the battery life, as it is not replacable, but so far the battery is working.

Every day that my Dell PC avoids the beat down it deserves, it should feel lucky. Piece of shit. However, my Dell notebook is actually quite good.

Once I finally kill off the pc, I am getting a mac. Viva Nick.

    Summing up:

Euro Commies: "The USA should stop spreading democracy where it doesn't belong and stop torturing people in its secret prisons and wire tapping its own citizens"

Right Wing Republican Moonbats: "But we have to torture and wire tap because of Bill Clinton. He caused 9/11 by doing nothing . . . and getting a blow job while he should have been killing bin Laden"

    Burke: "De Cock"

    Erik-with-a-K: "I hate Jesus"

Now moving on to the evils of Microsoft . . . yawn.

Not really a region person.. I like certain vineyards in various regions...

In my view Aldo Conterno is the 2nd best winemaker in the world today

Have to agree that Mac's are far superior in most ways.. I use a mac pro and a mac book for work, They are so smooth to use and are bulletproof, Not to mention the programs i use on them do not run adequately on a pc.

However, Pc's have their uses, especially regarding compatibility and when you have children that need a computer for their school work... Only a pc will do

I actually bought my apple shares a bit late, though they have indeed made decent returns over the last few years.. So cant really complain

I am sure you understood me but I will explain it to you :)

You had just mentioned to Seven how many times he had been beaten at school for whatever reason.

I have seen you mention several times the ability you pocess to beat members on the forum in whatever discussion is going on, and you used to bring up the subject even if the discussion had nothing to do with physical abilities.

I am really intrigued about it, what is it with beating others or being beaten or expressing physical superiority?

I will tell you why I am asking, personally I have a very weak physique and I was never interested in that area at all. I have been stupid towards others many times but I was never hit. I had lots of arguments with people but physical contact was always out of question. None of my friends has ever expressed this physical superiority (or inferiority) and it was never used to strengthen one's argument or discussion.

Enron, I am sorry mate, you failed me this time, I know you mastered the Jack very well, but you still need more time :D
Just for Vinman: I have never ever been beaten up. The only incident I recall at school was that I once got a teacher so mad he hit me. No harm done though, as I controlled him for the rest of my days at school :D.

Perhaps it is less custom in Europe to answer words with violence than it is in America. To make matters even worse for Vinman I'm not really weak and besides I'm a very good runner anyway. No, Vinni, nothing heroic about standing your ground. I don't pee in my office to claim my territory either ;).

Taking a good beating once or twice in ones life is good for the soul
