I mean, it's so sad, it's actually comically funny -- these people are just re-enforcing a stereotype of what they've been accused of, proving the pope's (albeit cited from a third party) point.

I personally think it is ignorance. Most of the people rioting are having trouble dealing with iconoclasts. just ten years ago their only world event outlet was their government, with the new media technologies(and the INTERNET!) the views-let's face it just mundane are amplified to a an audience that never heard anything remotely as "sacrilegeous".
As for the pope, again he's just following up on a vatican policy that has been around since John Paul II heres an interesting though old read: http://www.benadorassociates.com/article/13899

do nothing, and it will go away :rolleyes2.
You're right. It's always better to forgo civil liberties -- such as having your conversations monitored without a warrant, face the possibility of detainment and torture without legal cause for 30 days -- and to send 3,000 Americans to their deaths, make the world more unstable, and spend $350 billion in a land wholly unconnected to 9/11 "just in case" -- than to be accused of possibly over-reacting.

@ Erik - I thought I was anti-religion but you take the cake.

You really don't have to be such an ignorant little bigot though. Last time I was in Rome the Vatican was doing some canonization of a Mexican saint. I had to leave the city to avoid the millions of pilgrims. Yes, millions, so that shoots your "nobody cares anymore" theory to hell. Just post that YOU don't care and try not to drag the rest of the world into your bigotry.

If a poster made those comments about Islam, he would be banned. Sorry, just pointing out the double standard for those who go ape shit against one religion and those who go ape shit against other religions.

I really am surprised this shit and bile comes from you.

are you talking on the phone about committing a terrorist act ??

what Americans do you know of that are being detained and "tortured ??"

making the world unstable ??? Like it wasnt before....

Lets just see what happens if a democrat is our next president, and we are attacked ala 9-11

If Gore was president during 9-11, my bet is that he would have been hiding under his desk, calling for his mommy while pissing his pants

Don't they moniter all international calls...

None of that matters, however, seeing as no matter how many terrorist attacks we get it will be inevitably irrelevant if we all end up underwater :weee:

I once was talking to Andy and said that I hope Bush got shot in the head with a speargun and nothig ever happened.
Remember, you are only eligible to be a terrorist if you have a turban and ride a camel.
