and when did you have pleasure to meet a person like that?
He's American, might have something to do with it. In my experience they usually have a hard time understanding some nations don't expect to go for gold in every single sport because, quite simply, they can't. I once spent a full half hour trying to explain to an American friend of mine that Andorra didn't care they were highly unlikely to ever qualify for a major football tournament and would do everything in their power to hinder Holland. That they would approach it as a major game despite it 'just' being yet another WC qualification game for the Netherlands.

He never got it...

Well.. the American point of view might not be so bad in this case. After all you should never aim at second place even though it's more than likely you won't get gold.

where should we aim though? italy, france, ukraine, scotland. im sorry but ill remain fairly pessimistic about us topping the group. doesnt mean that the lads wont give their best, but seriously.

Well, giving it your best shot is exactly what you should do. I'm not saying you're going to top the group, but should at least try, no?

Oh absolutely, I admire that state of mind. Just that it doesn't prevail in all the corners of the world

rob, how many jambos play for scotland?
Craig Gordon in goal
Stephen "Elvis" Pressley CB
Robbie Neilson reserve RB
Paul"Zico"Hartley CM

plus due to bad form/inactivity we also have
Andy Webster(soon to be of wigan if fifa ever figure out their dumb rule) CB
Neil McCann LW

plus lots of ex-jambo's in the squad such as
david weir, gary naysmith, scott severin,

hearts have produced more scottish players for the national team than any other club over the last 8 years or so
