I've been out recently myself at the small town of Mendocino on the northern coast of Cali. Middle of nowhere. Kind of a good getaway from all the freaks at work (and you guys, of course.
)
One thing to observe about Mendocino is the variety of hippies you tend to occasionally run across (or over) on the Left Coast. On the Central Coast, and in Hawaii, it's the "let's grow our own lettuce and live off the land" hippie. In SF and Berkeley, it's the angry, pissed-off hippie. In Marin County, it's the New Age, crystal-loving (and not crystal meth) hippie. In Mendocino and the North Coast counties, it's the "my vehicle is powered off my own bowel movement" hippie.
Shitting in a coffee can there just isn't a pasttime, it's a renewable source of energy.
