What the hell was Nuno Gomez thinking! A prefectly good, record-setting 364 elimination round minutes without scoring a goal, and this clown from the bench has to come in and ruin it. :disagree:

Those were two great goals of his -- and some nice GKing from Kahn as a send-off. But Petit had a hand in all of Germany's scores -- poor marking on Schweiney on both his goals and the own-goal. He definitely gets my vote for COM (clown-o-da-match). :agree:

Quick questions.

Why wasn't Figo given the start??

What the fuck was Costa doing during the whole game?

Why the fuck does Pauleta keep getting the start??

better question...

how the hell did Portugal get so far in this tournament with such a bad team ???

1. He's been nursing a thigh injury, so he wasn't able to play a full match at a good workrate.

2. Being a terrible sub for the suspended Carvahlo.

3. Scolari is a stubborn bastard not unlike Capello can be. He sticks with the people that "got him there", even if it's clear that a change is needed and something isn't working right.

As to Vinman, I won't dignify that arrogance with an reply.

you gotta admit, they havent looked anything like the runners-up in the Euro's 2 years ago

I think they were pretty lucky to get so far in this WC...I'm not being arrogant at all....just being honest

Their offense completely sucked and ran out of gas in elimination rounds, but their midfield and defense held up well. They are clearly not among the best teams of this tournament -- that I reserve for Italy, Germany, and Argentina. But saying "such a bad team" is a bit of a stretch, particularly given the competition.

Vinni, luck or no luck they got there. Who did Italy have to beat? They had the easiest path of all teams.

Australia? Ukraine?

Common! they didn't even get a proper challenge until Germany. While Portugal had to get through Holland and the English.
