I caught one of those ESPN "World Cup Live" post-match shows recently. I thought Julie Foudy was actually making some sense in pointing out that Italy was not playing to the Italian stereotypes against Ghana. Then Alexi Lalas, the only American who ever played in Serie A no less, said that we should not be fooled and it was still just Italy's same-old, same-old of conservative tactics.

It just goes to show how difficult racial stereotypes are to break -- when we can't even see beyond age-old stereotypes about national team football tactics.
Indeed, and it just makes you wonder how some of these people get jobs on television with their lack of knowledge about the European game. Almost anybody here could tell you Lippi would not play with the same tactics as Trap, but then again we have had the priviledge of watching Lippi's Juventus over the years. However, all sorts of fans over the world could tell you that, so this is not an excuse. Supposed commentators such as Lalas and Foudy should be doing less talking and more watching of football because you and I know far more about the European game than they do, and our job is mere moderation on a soccer forum. Just more proof you can acquire jobs because of your name and not your brain.

Yeah, just remember who owned who last World Cup, my little chalupa homies.

So I grabbed a four-pack of pollo tamales from the cooler of the Tamale Lady who hangs out in front of the Safeway and headed home.
Oh, don't get my started on how Mexican Americans support Mexico and piss on our own national team. Makes me sick.

You know what's nice to hear? The possibility of the hosts Germany having a classic match up against England in the second round if Ecuador at least manages a draw against the Ze Germans. Ahh, the possibility of killing off one of the teams I abhor the most so early sounds very nice to me.

Ecuador is amazing. They surely do not fit the stereotype many people have of South American teams around here.

No biggie. With the rate of immigration they have in the South-West, I'm expecting the expansion of Mexico soon, back to the days of old.

I was thinking the same thing as I watched Ecudor this morning. At least we would get rid of one overblown shit ass "super power :disagree: "
