Are you sure about Ghana. I thought they did well for not having forwards and a goalkeeper that was as crazy as a shithouse rat. Those corners in the first half were hilarious. Essien showed that he is worth the big bucks and helped Ghana hold on the the ball for some of the game. Which was more than they should have. There was no real domination by Italy though Pirlo's shot was a gem. I missed the second goal. Nevertheless Italy didn't impress as I thought they should have. Ghana's nervousness in the back and on set pieces should have translated to a 3 goal Italy lead by the 15th minute.

As for the US match, I have a newfound respect for RoSICKy. As Gwen Stefani would say "That kid is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S"! They outplayed us and deserved their win. There were only four players who deserved to be on the pitch for the USA, McBride, Reyna, Oyewu and Eddie Johnson. Convey and Beasley were non-existent. Landon Donavan reminded Leverkuesen fans why he left Germany, he's a pussy. Eddie Lewis can't defend never has and never will and certainly didn't today. Kasey Keller is way too old to be the type of goalkeeper that the US needs to advance in World Cup play. Bruce Arena did well and made the necessary subs at halftime but the players did not respond. As for our next match which is a must win against Italy. I foresee a drastic change not only in personel but also in attitude which will hand the US the win they so badly need.

The following is addressed Vinnie and all the rest of the anti-US soccer cafones:

Take your FIFA rankings and eat them. You talk of how the US doesn't deserve to be where it is and how they deserve to loose and yackity yack. That's horseshit. It is not like FIFA gave the US their own World Cup trophy. No shit Italy is better than the U.S., has anyone denied that? No. Of course we don't play European teams on a regular basis, we're a CONCACAF team. And in case you didn't know the USA is a few thousand miles away from Europe which makes it a bit difficult to get a quality team together, as you probably noticed against Germany earlier this year. Excuses aside, Italy is better than the US, no matter what FIFA says and everyone knows that. Italy is a favorite in every tournament they enter, the US is not. Italy has 23 of its 23 man roster playing in Serie A. The US has 18 of its 23 man roster playing in or that have played in the MLS. The MLS, in case you didn't know, shovels the Serie A's poop. What we have here is a football powerhouse and a football upstart. And no reason to hate. If you wonder why some of us root for the US, I have the answer for you. We cheer for them because we don't have anything else, we are young enough to have a National league and a decent National Team to cheer for. And even if we do say the US will beat Italy, which I firmly believe, it is only because we are fans. Now have some class and enough with the chin rubbing. I don't want to see Andy get banned again.

Aaron, I am not anti-US soccer at all. I know how good they are/arent, and being an American, and hearing all the crap that fools who supposedly know soccer like Marcelo Balboa and Allen Hopkins give us, all I can say is enough is enough.

The biggest critics Vinman and myself are American so we are allowed! Look, this just confirms that the FIFA rankings are a damn joke...its one thing winning in Concacaf and its another beating a European or South American team...you can beat Barbados and Canada all you like (as Vin stated) but it doesn't mean you will even come close to European teams...
To be honest I am disappointed because I declined the Ghana match and bought a USA-ITALY ticket which cost me the hand of Christ to get...I really thought it would be a great match up and USA was going to be the dark horse in the group..now I have to find a way to get a Czech Italy ticket....

Mark my words: Toni-Gila-Totti will rip them apart

Oh, but I wasnt talking about you or Vinni... actually I agreed with you thinking the US was the dark horse. Its too bad they lost like that. Maybe they'll put up a fight against Italy

No, you're not allowed. Why? Because this is all you two ever do...you never show any sign of support for our national team, and you both have probably been waiting for this since four whole years now. All you ever manage to do is piss and moan about FIFA rankings, state how supposedly Canada has superior talents to that of our country, and always make it known you have trouble naming players from the MLS. I have never seen one post, not even ONE post, of yours that has any sort of compliments regarding the United States National team. You might be American, you might take part in American political discussions and support our troops, but you seem the least bit American when you discuss our soccer. You two talk as if you want us to lose.

This is why I don't want to hear it.

Forget the FIFA Rankings...anybody who even brings up these rankings is a DAMN JOKE.

You talk as if this has not been discussed before. Every half fucking fan knows these rankings are a damn joke, even I said my team doesn't deserve to be in the top ten, so why do you perpetually bring them up like this is something new? You want to complain about them and discuss said topic like its hot off the press, write FIFA a damn letter.

What a damn joke the USA was..after all the 'respect us' and 'watch out' and group of death talk they simply fizzled..offering less than the likes of Iran, Angola or Trinidad and Tobago who are ranked way down the list...I actually believed Andy's hype and picked the US to finish second in the group in a pool I am in..what a mistake...
Shut up. I have never hyped my team to absurd limits and always gave you a pretty fair assessment of our chances in this competition. Where have I ever stated we are better than the Czechs or Italy? Where have I ever stated we deserve as much praise as we get from various organizations, including the media? Where have I said anything besides, on our day, we can beat almost any side this world has to offer? I have never hyped my team to such lengths as some people who aren't even Italian hype Italy, and I'm not even talking about comparing final results in a World Cup...if I would hype them up I would have said we would surely pass through this group, which, of course, I did not.

I find it rather amusing you're lecturing me about this nonsense. How can you fault me for believing in my side? At least I'm supporting my country instead of pissing on our soccer...with people like you no wonder why people say the United States will never win the World Cup. You should be proud of yourself, Nick.

To think people warned Italy to watch out for the US. To compare them to Ghana is a disrespect to Ghana who offered more than the US did
News Flash, Nicholas. Unless you did not know, Italy played Ghana today, while the US played the Czech Republic. Now if you go back to your troubled time of elementry school, by using addition you can see that four teams played today in total in this group. If matches consist of two teams per match, that would mean we did not play against Italy today. Therefore, you're wrong. Perhaps we should wait and see when we actually PLAY on Saturday to conclude who offers more instead of basing your conclusion on different opposition.

    You're a fucking expert, Nick.

As for the match, there is nothing to say about it besides sheer disapointment. Congrats to the Czechs as their three goals were absolute class and Rosicky could perhaps turn out to be the player of the tournament. He's a world class player who never obtains the respect he deserves. I have trouble seeing us gathering any points from this group now because without confidence we won't do anything.

Totti couldn't rip anything apart, even if it was easy-opening. Am I the only one who realises that yesterday he did absolutely nothing? Oh and Toni, where exactly does he need the ball to be before he finds the goal? Inside the goal posts? 5 different attackers played in that game, and 50% of the goals (1) was score by a midfielder by a long shot. The remaining 50% was not because of our excellent team work, but simply because their defender is a retard. Imagine if Iaquinta HADN'T scored that goal.
Anyway, I'm not saying we won't beat USA, because I honestly think we will, but "ripping apart" is a tad exaggerated after yesterday's performance (at least in terms of offence), and if something isn't done about that, it could cost us further on in the tournament (assuming we do pass to the next round).

Andy, just take it. The US were piss poor and a lot of people, including me, wanted them to lose badly. There's obviously going to be some gloating.
