OK, a non sequitur, but since we're on the subject of languages...

So here's the description in an exercise that's part of my Italian homework due today:

So I wonder if the choice of "Agnelli" isn't entirely random here...

Too bad the discipline doesn't seem to run in the maternal side of the Agnelli family, according to this, otherwise John Elkann could have had some sense slapped into him. :D
:D

I followed an introductory course in Italian before I actually went to study it. It was one of those courses with audio tapes; done by two people. One guy who had the single sexiest voice I have ever heard and one woman with this high-pitched, screamy voice. I finished the course with a perfect vocabulary concerning Italian sports, and knowing nothing about anything concerning the country's culinary and academic scene.

Did it occur to the the anti-Gino brigade that perhaps he just meant "I like to get wasted so much that not even my dad can prevent me from doing it" in a joking way? Do they realize that his English is quite limited, that he can only use the words he knows and as such he is bound to find himself entangled into quid pro quos? How about coming out of their narrow-minded vision of the world for one second, and acknowledge Gino's efforts to communicate in THEIR language and give him a helping hand instead of pushing him further into the abyss? Too high an expectation I am afraid.
Libero,

Now this isnt my argument,

However, I must question how you justify your protection of gino over his lack of language skills, yet you, yourself are one of the worst on this forum for calling people up on bad spelling, grammar etc

Even falling into taking the piss out of people for said errors... So, from what i see, you are now pulling people up for something you have often done yourself...

eg.

It appears to me that you are at loggerheads with grammar and correct spelling, son. Hell I am surprised you managed to spell "azzurri" correctly lol (usually the Dilberts of your variety write it with one "r" only).
(and No, that wasnt at a 'native' speaker as you usually so like to be the butt of your assaults)

Jus try searching with your username and various words, like spelling, grammar etc etc
The results are plentiful...

But maybe, I've misinterpreted your words...

Please clarify...

I remember Kaiser Franco making several complaints in the past about grammatical and spelling errors, and I even recall him saying himself that such errors are inexcusable.

Good find, Pauly.

No I didn't get the chance. I don't get anything Liverpool on my dorm room television. You have to get Setanta or FSC around here to get LiverpoolTv. I had classes when it was on anyway. That said it would have been nice to see.
