nor is the need to mess around with someone elses language... Especially when said person is in one breath moaning about correct grammar in said language, but with the next is hailing the virtues of changing said language... Uhmmm ... the smell of hypocrisy
you're taking this rather harshly, aren't you?

That would be my guess. "WC" would be short in print form, like "OK", and can be instantly recognizable -- even to people unfamiliar with the Latin alphabet. But you wouldn't say it, since "loo" is so much easier (for example).

Or like URLs in Italian... instead of "www" (each a "doppia vu") they say "vu-vu-vu" (literally "vvv"). A lot less hassle.
Yeah OK actually sounds like okay. WC doesn't sound like World Cup.

The real question ought to be why is the English speaking world so afraid of saying "WC"? What have you to hide? :D
We are trying to hide that porcelin bowl of filth and waste . . . so it's rather impolite of you and Erik to keep bringing it up.

@Erik - nobody actually says "WC" we only write to save time. In the spoken language every body says "World Cup"

and nobody says "Water Closet" anymore. It's bathroom, restroom, toilet, shitter, pisser, segio lenza, can, john, etc.

then what was your point?
The point, was simply the hipocrisy of your speechs about grammar etc when you then flippantly talk of making changes to a language...

Whether you meant it or not is irrelevant on the back of your previous statements.

What does the fact that I said I try to write grammatically correct sentences (and thinking others do too) have to do with me making a joke about "changing the language" (bit of a strong way of putting it)? Are you saying I'm respecting the language on one hand and then insulting it on the other or something? I'm afriad I don't follow.

@Martin - you should know that Respaul only has 3 rules that MUST be respected:

2. Do not make fun of his teeth; and

3. Do not steal his art work.

Can a person get anymore pathetic...

You say you like to frustrate me, yet all you do is make me laugh and get frustrated yourself...

You must be the only person i have ever come across on a forum that can be outfoxed and twisted up by the simple word 'and'... Laughable in the extreme..

Is it my fault that you have nothing to say, you jus seek attention with your bigotry and constant search for the controversial...

You truely are the most immature person on this board, a pathetic fool with nothing to say... without even sharp wit to make it worthwhile... Jus controversy courting unoriginal tripe...

It wouldnt be so bad if you actually knew anything about football... but even there you fall short, with no knowledge of juve whatsoever, backed up by your bias ridden bile that shows you have no idea of the sport as whole...

So in short, you have no idea about football, you have nothing to say about anything else and have no wit to counter your lack of intelligence... So whats the point ?

You are the epitome of the dumb american hick... full of insults, bigotry and generally full of bile... Why not jus stick to fucking your sister or doing your mum up the arse , cause its an "effective contraceptive" and leave those that jus wanna talk football and such the freedom todo so without having to put up with your inane bullshit

It amazes me that you, enron and andy are actually friends... But then they do say, every group has to have an idiot...

Now go have your lil nap..

Yea, a lot of this is true, but at least I have a big dick. :toast:

OK, a non sequitur, but since we're on the subject of languages...

So here's the description in an exercise that's part of my Italian homework due today:

I figli della signora Agnelli non ascoltano mai la loro mama, però hanno molta paura del loro papà. Spiega quello che il signor Agnelli ordina ai suoi figli di fare o di non fare.
So I wonder if the choice of "Agnelli" isn't entirely random here...

Too bad the discipline doesn't seem to run in the maternal side of the Agnelli family, according to this, otherwise John Elkann could have had some sense slapped into him. :D
