Yeah I just saw the Sky Sports report with Andy Gray, and I think he was pretty much spot on with the analysis. The referee was in no position to make a call on the incident, and perhaps the linesman was out of position. The referee said "I was in a good position to see the goal," however how can you judge if the ball went over the line when you are 25 yards out and the ball not touching the ground? If he made the call himself he's wrong. As Mr. Gray stated refs cannot make those decisions, and the linesman was perhaps out of position. When you are not certain whether or not the ball had crossed the line you let the play go on, not assume it went over when you're 25 yards out.

And if you are going to either call a penalty or give the goal without knowing if it went in or not by all means give the penalty. Is that just laziness on the part of the ref or what? Reasonable doubt and there sure was some on that call.

and I just saw Jose Mourinho's American Express comercial. I don't ever recall seeing a manager do comercials.

if it wasnt a goal then why didnt the chelsea players complain about it ?

yeah, they protested weakly at first, but it was nothing like the usual rubbish you get when the referee makes an incorrect call.

I smelled another Riazor type game from the first minute...Milan was nervous...edgy and most importantly, tired. These guys have played more games than any in Serie A...it will get to them ..and it has. That said, I think this scare will be BAD for Juve as they are going to re-start the engine Sunday.
    Yes they were outplayed.
Yes they were lost in mid-field..Seedorf was horribly off his game today.
    Pirlo was lost..
In my opinion, Kaka and Cafu were the only offense for Milan.
Ambro was getting good positioning and it paid off.

Andy: stop posting out of your arse:
You are not OUTPLAYED in the last four matches and win 3 out of 4 games. The other teams fired and gave it their all but couldn't not break Milan.
Paul: To answer your post: If a miracle were to happen in CL it was to happen tonight .... it did not.

LIVERPOOL should enjoy their second place medal in Istanbul.

    THE CUP IS COMING HOME..

Da, I want to wear this to Istanbul.

    Associated Press

    Istanbul, Turkey

    May 25, 2005

In a day that will be remembered as one of the most horrific in Turkish history, the Champions League Final between Liverpool and Milan at the Atatürk Olimpiyat stadium started off as match between two of Europe's best football clubs. Little did the onlookers know that the most horrific event to ever strike a football match was a about to take place.

Approximately ten minutes after kickoff the pitch became a scene of terror when 19 year-old American terrorist Michael Burke stormed the pitch wearing a biohazard suit. At what first seemed like a normal pitch invasion by a hooligan fan quickly turned into day which will not be forgotten.

In what seemed to be an almost impossible and unthinkable feat, Burke had secretly brought a flame-thrower type device into the Atatürk stadium. At 19:43 GMT (2:43 EST) the terrorist invaded the pitch during play and depressed the trigger on his device, releasing a white powder into the air. First to be hit with the powder substance was Steven Gerrard, captain of Liverpool FC, who promptly fell to the ground covering his eyes in horror. The terrorist then moved on to spray every player on the pitch, and then proceeded to turn the device on the stands. The fans could only look on in total shock as the madman continued to ward-off any possible apprehension with a threatening motion to whomsoever came close. After the terrorist seemingly exhausted his supply of the substance, the authorities bravely wrestled him to the ground.

The substance was later confirmed to be a deadly crystalline form of Anthrax that could be easily inhaled into the lungs. A spokesman from the US Department of Defense stated that the terrorist had obtained the Anthrax from a high school friend's father, a laboratory chief at USAMIRIID at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland. The suspected scientist still remains at large.

The Turkish government sent hazmat teams to the Atatürk stadium, setting up a triage and subsequent morgue for the victims of the horrendous attack. Early deathtoll estimates from Istanbul reach upwards of 5,000 people, as well as thousands of other victims who must be treated for Cutaneous and Inhilation Anthrax, the latter being almost impossible to treat.

The suspected terrorist Michael Burke was arrested by Turkish police and TSA officials and was taken to the security headquarters outside of the stadium. As Burke was taken into custody people reportedly heard him laughing hysterically repeating the words "I love Anthrax, I just love Anthrax."

Officials say the cleanup from this horrific event will take at least three months.

You seriously think that Milan was the better side in Italy and in Eindhoven?

I suggest you take those Rossoneri glasses off.

It would hardly be a miracle for Liverpool to win. You can't say how a game will go. Milan getting knocked out tonight would have been far from a miracle, the complete opposite infact.

Liverpool have a pretty decent chance. Yes Milan are certainly the better team and if they bring their best game to Liverpool we could struggle. But you know how it is with the English/Italian games right?

This isn't Man Utd and this isn't Juve. You said it once yourself. No amount of money will ever buy a Maldini. Well we have two of those in Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, who both happen to be at the absolute top of their game right now. These players will work there asses of for this club, the work they will put in in this final, the first and maybe last of their careers, will be immense.

Come to Turkey like you came to Einhhoven and you are going home empty handed. Personally I hope these English scum can wipe away some more cocky smiles. Though from reading your postings since I came here, you haven't been cocky, you've been down right ignorant to any opposition.

I realise you have history on your side. But don't get carried away it's only been one season Nick. You are talking like Milan have dominated Europe for the past decade.

    6-5 anyone? ;)

Shadowfax to touch on something you said earlier, indeed the KOP in the last game where fantastic. It's games like that that make Anfield the best place to ever visit. All English fans have been immaculate in this tournament on the pitch and off under all and pretty much worst conditions. I'm proud and I hope we can keep it going in the final.
