engineers dont put their lives on the line to protect you....seriously man, I know you're much smarter than this
People put their lives on the line every day by travelling. Teachers put their lives on the line trying to teach a bunch of people who may hate them. Soldiers risk their lives fighting for the nation. Etc.

whoa...that says a hell of a lot

i have nothing but respect for the profession but the exercise of qualifying deaths and homicides is imo wrong. Moreover playing devil's advocate you d say the kloss of someone not in the police is more tragic in general as they face less daily risk than a cop. as for the rappers it was informative not argumentative i have no opinion on the issue but i did want to discuss the point i put forth

It's a bit of a personal issue I know, but I'm not the kind of guy who will keep secrets so I'll ask it quite bluntly: has anyone of you ever had problems with sleepwalking?

The thing is I did it last night. And TBH in quite extreme fashion. To begin with I spoke in no less than three languages to my roommates (Italian, Dutch, English). Apart from that I seemed perfectly fine physically to them, although my eyes were a bit.. well.. not like the eyes of someone who is also mentally present.

But as it took them 10 minutes or so to figure out I was sleepwalking and they eventually woke me up after 15 minutes of god knows what, I keep asking myself if there's anything I can do to avoid an embarassing situation like that from ever popping up again. Because waking up, talking in Dutch or English or whatever to all of your roommates whilst wearing nothing but your undies is not the kind of experience I look forward to.

I did similar things when I was little, but not as extreme. I would walk around a bit, but I don't think for more than a couple of minutes, and I would wake up in a different place than the one I went to sleep, but I'm sure I never ever spoke to people while sleeping.

Which is why I'm a bit worried now.

I had night terrors when I was little. Now that sucked. Also you may have been stressed out and thats how your body reacted. Check WebMD if youre really worried.

Yeah, I heard night terrors can be really bad. Fortunately enough I haven't experienced them. Will check WebMD, just in case.

EDIT: I just did. Seems I definitely had all the symptoms of sleepwalking, even if that was already confirmed by several people who have medical degrees (one of them being one of my housemates). They seem to talk about alcohol intoxication and underlying psychological problems. I'm sure that I don't have any underlying problems, I'm having the time of my life, and the alcohol intoxication seems unlikely as well. I did have three or four glasses of wine, but I was nowhere near drunk and as an Erasmus student I'm quite used to drinking a lot anyway. Let's just hope it was a once in a lifetime event and will end here.

the only agreement you'll get out of me is about our soldiers...I'll assume you were drunk when you wrote the rest of that rubbish

tell me the next time a teacher takes a bullet trying to protect YOU, and not themselves

I understand your point...any murder is terrible (I've seen too many), but I think its taken to another level when a police officer is murdered doing his job of protecting the public

Is there anything much worse than a cop killer ? (besides child molesters ??)

Not all cops would take a bullet for me, just like not all individuals of other professions would shy away from protecting someone they don't know. Altair makes a good point IMO.

Is there anything worse than a cop killer? What sort of question is that?

Yea, those that invade a sovereign nation because of the lies told by few to millions. Sort of like saying "hey we KNOW he has WMD's" and not finding them, lying about them, and starting a war over the nonsense, which therefore causes over 4,000 Americans and 10,000 innocent people their lives.

....that, and rapists.

I'd rather have 3 cops die than have anyone raped, and 100 cops die defending the heart of one honest man than have one man die because of a lie told by 100 of the rich, the powerful, and the manipulative.

My opinion though, I don't expect agreement.....from you, or anyone.

What if Andries has been sleepwalking for many years and he is actually one of those freaky Belgian child molesters that were discovered in the 1990's as they kept child sex slaves locked in their homes? This could have gone on for years and he never knew about it.
