Although I also said I didn't consider countries such Italy, Spain and Portugal Western but Southern Europe. Then again, you could have argued, on a map Portugal seems to be situated in the West. To conclude our little discussion I would have noted that Western Europe is not so much a geographical position, but a concept.

Anyway:

What I said about shootings was that they are far more rare, and practically don't happen at all, in Western Europe than they are in the USA. And statistics prove me right on that one. The fact I already referred to statistics whilst making my point a couple of months ago means I did not say they never happened.

I'm quite sure you'll say I'm clutching at straws here, but to me the difference is obvious. Besides, I also said that, every now and then, people go berserk in Finland which is why I don't like those "life is great in Scandinavia even though it's always dark" articles.
