Germany took over the presidency of the EU, Merkel is set to use the nation's immense power to reform the Union. Possible consequences:
1. Structural reform
2. Reviving the constitution (or its most important parts)
3. A European president and a secretary of foreign affairs

A president? Ten bucks says Merkel is going to try and land that job herself :D

If it's an Italian, I shall emigrate.

@ Vinman: :lol2:

@ Alexander: If your avatars are any indication, I'll be expecting a hottie PM soon from your fair nation. :agree:

@ all college football loyalists: Since when did the BCS start scheduling games in March, leaving the New Year's Day games to the Chattanooga State Pigmounters vs. the University of South Scranton Beaver Bombers?

Seriously. I mean ... who decided New Year's is the UEFA Cup of Bowl Games? And does anyone have their home address so I can pay a visit with my friends Smith & Wesson? (I've got Wessonality.)

College football is such a fucking joke. How USC basically gets to play a home game every single Rose Bowl is ridiculous. Fuck USC bunch of wankers.

You can't be that ignorant, can you???

You do realize that the winner of the Pac 10 conference, if they are not selected to go to the BCS title game, gets invited to the Rose Bowl, right??

Where does the winner of the Big 10 go to every year if they are not in the championship game?? The Rose Bowl. Its been going on long before you or I were born.

It happens in practically every conference.

The winner of the SEC goes to the Sugar Bowl. The winner of the ACC goes to the Orange Bowl. THe winner of the Big 12 goes to the Cotton bowl.

You want Michigan in a home game for a bowl?? Fine, have them go 6-6 and they can go to the prestigious Motor City Bowl.

Oh yeah, last time I looked, there are tens of thousands of fans in Maize and Blue out in the stands.

But long before the BCS existed -- as long as I could remember the Rose Bowl when growing up in the Big 10 country of Chicago -- I always thought that hosting the Rose Bowl for the Pac 10 and Big 10 winners was a huge mistake to begin with. It's like hosting the Champions League final in the Bernabeu each year.

Where did I say I wanted Michigan to play "at home" for a bowl game? I never said that... that would be stupid and defeat my own point in the first place.

All I'm asking for is neutral terrirtory instead of the winner of the Pac 10 and the Big 10 always playing in the Pac 10 garbage land. It's fucking stupid, but yeah go ahead and give USC a home game every single time they win their conference.

Go neutral, just as they do in the Champions League and the Super Bowl (generally speaking). Bowl games are clearly non-conference games, and they are timed for sunbird vacation destinations, etc.

The Orange Bowl clearly figured this out...

Its just all a load of bullshit. California is Pack 10 territory if we take any geography classes.
Michgan is ranked #3

USC is ranked #8.

This late in the season, Michigan and their vaunted Defense, with 4 potential 1st round picks in their starting lineup, should be shutting down a USC offense that lost Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, Lendale White, Dominique Byrd, and three of their starting offensive linemen from last year's squad. And..........................................................looking at the scoreboard...................................................................................................

Oh My.

January 1st 1996.

Rose Bowl

Usc vs. Northwestern. Back when Northwestern was ranked #3 in the country, I went to that Rose Bowl game, and I will tell you this. in a 100,000 seat stadium, there were NO LESS than 65,000 Northwestern fans at that game.

The Rose Bowl is enemy territory for USC, regardless if it is in California. You wouldn't know unless you've been there. Nearly every fan who gets a ticket for the Rose Bowl game that doesn't support USC or their opponent is almost always Anti- USC.

Then they have to go Neutral for every single Major Bowl game.

I could care less, personally. The better teams almost always win in the Bowl Games, regardless of where they are playing.

You do realize that all of these bowl games were designed with 2 things in mind.

#1) Warm Climates for January

#2) Regionalization and ease of travel. It was easier for the winner of the Big 10 to pack up and travel by train to the West Coast back in the 30's and 40's. Of course, its a lot easier now, but then you are messing with tradition.

Don't be surprised if Lloyd Carr gets fired after this game.

3 straight years of losing to Ohio State, and then losing the subsequent bowl game.

Not Good.
