Goal.com correspondent Gavino Nieddu is concerned that the way the Calciopoli investigation and sentencing was carried out represents a conflict of interest...

Gavino writes: "I have a question for Goal.com readers. All this time I was convinced that the Calciopoli investigation was legit and handled in accordance with the rules in the name of fairness.

"Yet Guido Rossi, a known Interista and former member of Inter’s Board of Directors, not only conducted the sports trial but was responsible for handing out punishments to his rival squads.

"Rossi is also a very close friend of Moratti who is now demanding the scudetti of the last two seasons.

"Does this not constitute a conflict of interest?"

Thx to Sateeh for bringing this into light.

Why don't they employ someone a little more neutral to sentence the clubs? I'm sure there are a bunch of Italian magistrates who know a lot about football, but hate all clubs because of the problems they cause. But no, they have to employ someone who is a member of the club that is potentially profiting the most from this whole scandal. Two wrongs make a right I suppose.

Careful, you don't wanna mess with me today. It's 38 degrees C and I can't shower because I'm wearing a 24-hour ECG the good people at the hospital pinned to my chest after I had spent a good hour on a fuming bus without air conditioning. I shoved a 200 pound bloke to the side to catch my tram connection, which he missed as a result, because he dared annoy me by asking for the time.

Looks like Nick's prediction may be coming to light a year or two sooner than expected.

Meanwhile, the conflict of interest issue -- which I've long stated as a major root cause of all this... which is far more critical than any club punishments -- continues unabated.

Erik, you still gotta move to this town. At least for the summers. I hear now that the bleached skeletons of most of my fellow countrymen are littering the American roadsides -- looking like the dehydrated cattle carcasses along the desert plains ... like the dust-and-denim aftermath of a neutron bomb.

But here in SF city proper, it's a sunny day with a high of 25°C -- and virtually no one in town has air conditioning. :pint: :smoke:
