Not really. But I can recognize some things I heard in the neighborhood growing up. And I had great aunts, a couple of grandparents, etc. who pretty much spoke nothing but. But unlike other kids in the neighborhood, my parents didn't send us to Lithuanian school to learn the language, join in the folk dancing, and all that other crazy stuff.

Hey -- this is football. The counterpoint to Fli's examples of Lithuania recently getting draws with Germany and Spain is that I also watched the match where Liechtenstein drew with Portugal in the WC '06 qualifying rounds when Portugal had the 2-0 H/T advantage. And when it comes to the Liechtenstein NT, most of those guys have day jobs as accountants.

Aha, so you're brought up with it but not entirely immersed. I've known a lot of parents myself, of my friends back as a kid, people have all kinds of opinions as to what degree of homeland ties they want their kids to have. Some are rather radical, others don't seem to care at all.

One clear indicator of the kind of parents I had was that they are the first generation in my family tree with my last name -- that I share with them. We have a Keterikus, the Shimkus maternal line, and toss in last names with even less vowels and they opted to "Americanize" for their kids -- pretty much lifting something they liked out of a phone book. There are definite pros and cons with that, but it naturally goes that I wouldn't have the parents that would send me to Lithuanian school.

I LOVE what the 49ers did in this draft. Getting two potential star players in Vernon Davis and Manny Lawson (despite he being from the very OVERRATED N.C. State. Seriously, how can a team with 3 Defensive Linemen drafted in the first round only have 7 wins last year?? anyway......)

Robert likes Green bay. I like the pick of A.J. Hawk. Honestly, I thought they were going to go for Vernon Davis, but I'm glad they didn't. They finally got some offensive line help in the 3rd round. The WR in the 2nd (Jennings) could turn out to be a really good ball player. Abdul Hodge in the 3rd, assuming he can overcome his character issues, is a steal.

Ernie Sims with the 9th pick, when they could have traded down at least a few spots to get him. Well..............at least he could be a good player.

As far as that #1 pick is concerned, Houston will rue the day they passed up on Reggie Bush to take Mario Williams. Every year in the draft, there is always a stud Defensive Lineman. A talent like Reggie Bush comes along every 20 years. They will totally regret it. And this isn't a knock on Williams either, but c'mon, seriously.

I really don't think we will regret not taking Reggie. Unless we make it to the Superbowl and lose to the Saints. If anything Houston should have traded down for AJ Hawk. Our scoring defense was dead last in the league last season, mostly due to our front seven being absolute garbage. Last time I checked Bush doesn't play defense. On another note, the David Carr spent more time on his back last season than most QBs in the league. Can Bush block a 300 lb D lineman or a 250 lb LB? No, Bush has even said that his pass blocking skills are lacking. The truth is, while Bush is a great talent, the Texans don't need him. They need a pass rush, a Linebacker, and a tackle. The Texans need a player who can play from day one. Bush wasn't going to be this guy. Not only will he only get about 15 carries a game no matter where he is, but he is probably going to hold out and become a middle of the season signing, a la Cedric Benson. While fans and experts alike will say Houston dropped the ball, I say there was no ball to drop. Houston had too many holes to fill then Reggie could manage.

Besides an offensive line, what takes pressure off of the QB's????

A true, legitimate offensive talent that defenses must put a defender, or in Reggie Bush's case, 2 people on. The more people you have covering the skill players, the less amount of people you have blitzing the QB, and that was the main problem with houston. With a standard 4 man rush against David Carr, he was pretty decent. However, when faced with a blitz is when he got into trouble. And to say that Bush can't play from day one is absolutely ridiculous. And I said it before and I'll say it again. There are ALWAYS premium pass rushers available in the draft. Reggie Bush is a once in a generation talent. He would have gotten 15 carries a game, been able to get 4-5 receptions a game, and return punts and kickoffs.

Manny Lawson may turn out to be a better pass rusher than Mario Williams.

At least, that is what NFL scouts have said. Best pure pass-rushing prospect in the draft.

Mario Williams may turn out to be a phoenomenal DE, but he won't reach the status of Reggie Bush
