I said it was Capello's strategy ... I didn't say I agreed with it.

at Seven:

You missed my point: Zlatan was a big purchase and came with expectation and was young...he needed some Serie A experience and starting him was more essential than Del Piero: Starting Del Piero based on past experience was not always the right approach but with Zlatan the downside was not yet known. Anyhow, Capello has openly criticized Zlatan's self-centered play ... you have to understand (as Juventini) that Capello has his own way of dealing with players ona case by case basis..with Milan he would bench IL GENIO Savicevic even when he was the anchor of the offense and on the other hand start Papin despite his struggle to adapt...
I agree with starting Zlatan over Del Piero last season, although he didn't really prove to be a better player then either when looking at the statistics. It's clear Zlatan needed some experience and he did have his place because of the system Capello was using.

But this season is a different story. I might look stupid, but I do believe we are a different team when Del Piero plays instead of Zlatan. And a far better team. I can recall two or three games when Zlatan was absolutely fantastic and aided the team, but I can recall 10 games where Del Piero made a vital impact. Consistenly giving Zlatan the nod over Del Piero, doesn't do Zlatan any good, because he's probably thinking he's doing alright and he isn't.

About Capello's own way of dealing with players: I simply think he's wrong. He makes a lot of horrible errors, and I'm sure you realise that as well. Capello the best out there? I don't think so.

Russell was in Mystery, Alaska and Bellucci was in Matrix XXII or whatever...I'm sure they can manage to 'bend'. Actually in retrospect Vinman is hard to cast...while the others are not that difficult:

Padovano: Michael Chilkis or Chimenti

I haven't been able to watch every Juve game due to studying, but can someone explain me the following:

a) Del Piero scores a hattrick against Fiorentina and pretty much builds up the fourth goal.
b) Del Piero scores the only goal of the game against Reggina and wins us the match. Zlatan gets to play for 2 minutes and fvcks up a huge chance.
c) Against Chievo Capello benches Del Piero and chooses for Zlatan. Zlatan sucks throughout the game.

Can someone explain me how this isn't favouritism? Can anyone explain me how this is a good coaching decision?

Join the party!!!!!!

Someone from "the board" asked me today if I wanted to stay next season. Told him I don't know yet. I played two good games as a starter and now suddenly I'm benched again for another young prospect, who is a good player and a good friend, because he "stronger". Sure, I might be the more skilled one, sure I might bring some much needed creativity in the team, but that's not what he wants. He wants a boring football team that only crosses the half way line two or three times a game.

Last game we were 1-0 up and totally dominating. Then all of a sudden he says we should focus on defending more. 20 minutes before the end he takes me off because I'm too offensive minded for a right wingback (which was the position I was forced to play). One minute later, and I'm telling the truth here, they scored and all was equal again. To make matters even worse he comes up to us in the locker room and tells us how good it was that we got a point. We got a fvcking point against the second last, who we could have blown away!

And although he doés realise I'm more creative and faster than anyone on the team he keeps playing me on defensive positions. So I said that I might quit the team because I couldn't play the way I wanted to and because I'm not in the starting line-up frequent enough. I would probably earn more if I stayed next season though, but let's be honest, I don't need that money to stay alive, so I'll probably choose a team that pays me a little less, but where I can have fun. Anyway, I need to grow stronger and become better, and that's only going to happen when I can start games a lot.

Marseille doping scandal rocks Milan.

Saturday 21 January, 2006
Milan are ready to demand the 1993 Champions League trophy after a Marseille star claimed the team was on drugs for the Final.

The Rossoneri lost the match in Munich 1-0 to a goal from Basil Boli, as their opponents became the first French team ever to lift the trophy. It was a shock, as Fabio Capello’s side had a 100 per cent record until that point with 10 consecutive victories.

Now former Marseille midfielder Jean-Jacques Edelie has revealed in his autobiography that the game was not all it seemed to be.

“The only time I agreed to take a doping product was the 1993 Champions League Final,” he confessed in the book that will come out on March 1.

“In all the clubs I played in, I saw some doping going on, except for Bastia, but this was the only time I accepted. We all took a series of injections and I felt different during the game, as my physique responded differently under strain. The only player who refused to take part was Rudi Voller (pictured).”

The news is a particular shock to Milan, as among the Marseille stars were future Serie A heroes Didier Deschamps and Marcel Desailly.

It’s not the first time that the French club has been embroiled in controversy, as it emerged they had fixed their title-clinching League game against ASOA Valence-Clime so that they could concentrate on the European Final. The side was stripped of Le Championnat, relegated and barred from defending this trophy.

Milan have asked their lawyers to look into the situation and many of the players who lost that day are hoping to be awarded the title with a 13-year delay.

“I am shocked and find this news disturbing,” Daniele Massaro told the Corriere dello Sport. “If these allegations are proved, then it would be right to take the trophy away from Marseille and return it to Milan. The whole thing is simply incredible.”

Roberto Donadoni, who is now Coach of Serie A side Livorno, aimed his scorn at the club hierarchy.

“I don’t know what the future of that cup holds, but one thing is certain: if it's proved that all the players were on something, then the directors must’ve had a hand in it. I remain stunned by the fact that professionals in this sport can go to any lengths in order to win.”

Vice-President Adriano Galliani called for UEFA to take action over these allegations.

“Our lawyer is looking into the situation and we believe that UEFA cannot help but begin an inquest when confronted with these statements. Of course, if Marseille really were on drugs against us that night, then I think it’s right for the trophy to be assigned to Milan. We’ll wait and see what happens.”

To be honest, I think that nothing should be done, only for the reason that you could very well do this in every sport

We could start taking away Superbowl championships, World Series rings, boxing titles, olympians medals, etc, etc.....

The testing is a joke. The athletes will always have trainers and or doctors who will find a way to beat the tests

No sport is clear of steroids and or performance enhancers, and I would venture to say that overall in most sports, at least 60% of the athletes are on performance enhancers. Be it steroids, growth hormone, epo, etc.

All these records that have been broken in the last 15 years have no doubt been associated with steroid use...no doubt about it

True Vinnie, if that door opens all hell will break loose. Endless teams would start throwing around allegations. I think just leave it as it is, and implement a more stricter anti-doping regulations, monitering...etc.
