Well it sounds great that America is also getting more involved in this sport. Their national team is actually good. Although I've heard from many americans that in America the sport is more known as a women's sport. Must be the only country in the world with that opinion.
It's the trap of supporting only those international sports where your national team does well. But in the US, I haven't seen that to be the case. There's a bigger misconception that US NT soccer is exclusively a white boy's sport than there's a perception that it is known more as a women's sport.
Usually, the women's NT teams that dominate -- whether WC or Olympic events -- typically come from the nations with better track records for their treatment of, and opportunities for, women. So it's not entirely surprising either -- those societal elements alone give women's teams from those countries a huge leg up on the competition.
Many nations that don't have strong women's teams are often affiliated with, well, civilizations that lock their women in cages and have them defecate on themselves.
