A Royal Oak teenager is dead tonight after stealing a bakery truck and being involved in a police chase on Interstate 75 earlier today. The teen reportedly stole a bakery truck from Sweeheart Bakery on Kelly Road in East Detroit at about 1pm in the afternoon, and promptly tried to drive back to his house in Royal Oak.
A bakery employee noticed a rather large figure step into the truck outside the store, and right away she knew something was wrong. "I never saw dat person in my life. I also never saw somebody so fat in der life also," stated Sherry O'Donnell to Local 4.
At about 2:00pm EST Michigan authorities issued a Donut Alert, the first in the State's history, to give the public warning of the bakery theft. Authorities also described the suspect as a white male, about 5 foot 5, 350 pounds wearing a sweatsuit and possibly holding a Boston Creme in his left hand.
At 2:15 EST Royal Oak police spotted the bakery truck travelling on 12 Mile Road near Woodward Avenue and authorities promptly tried to pull the suspect over. The teen had no intention of pulling over and continued weaving in and out of traffic with donuts in hand until he lost control of the truck and crashed into a parked vehicle. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.
"I'm glad we nabbed that fatass. Donut boy has been stealing donuts all over the area and denying me my breakfast," yelled Officer Dailley after the chase was over. Officer Dailley and his partner Thomas Dooley helped themselves to a few celebratory donuts with the Local 4 Crew after catching the high profile bakery theif. "Hmm, donuts" authorities said.
The coronors office reported that the cause of death was an apparent heartattack the teen suffered while driving the bakery truck and eating the truck's supply at the same time.
