That's good point, as you can see on this board not everyone seems to agree on its merit even here in the US. But the few countries which came in direct contact with the so-called american empire do play baseball: Japan, Panama, Dominican Republic, Canada... So if you're asking why it's not like let's say basketball? Baseball is just really different and very much culturally tied to this land and it rules are not as straightforward. Going to your first game with your dad is a ritual for almost every american boy, a bapteme du feu if you will.
