Congratulatioins, I expect a lot from the US team. It is the kind of teams that is full of surprises and might reach somewhere more than expected.

:D Andy, you did not congratulate Nick.

Central and Eastern Europe are under water. Portugal is burning. Did they get one cent from a non-EU country ? (yeah the EU : the world's largest foreign aid donor, ya know?)

Nah, thought not.

Meanwhile, the ungrateful Euroweenies and a host of other countries are sending aid to Louisiana. No need to thank them though : only aid from "real friends" doesn't smell.

Oh and Belgium doesn't suck. It really doesn't. Yeah ok it does actually, but less so than the next 158 countries.

Libero, it would have been nice if you left me a number to call you back.

The number that showed up on my cell phone is apparently a fax number

Make no mistake, it's something you do every day.
Wow it seemed like you were getting raped out there in that debate. But with this one line (and I am not being sarcastic here) you just hit the last nail on the coffin. Pure grade A contention material it was. I agree with you on the whole "Europeans are much more efficient". Belgium with its elaborate socialISTIC system has definitely a lesser poverty rate. BUT let's face it, the US with all its problems still makes the world spin the way it does now. I wonder how half of your stuff would sell if it werent for the US, remember it's not enough just to make it. This is the country about "getting it done", opportunity. No US apologist, but you'd be living in a german-speaking third world country had it not been for US "adventurism". My only real criticism is your lack of tact. How do you not expect people to get emotional when they have family and loved ones ( me included) in the striken area. What you say is right but your timing could not have been worse. Be a good sport, offer support. Be it just moral.

Altair, you are asking an awful lot out if you expect that miscreant to show any sort of class.

Hey, did you see my future starting fantasy QB (Peyton Manning) helping out yesterday in Louisiana?? :D. Class act, that Peyton Manning.

Am I the only one who despises those "without us you'd be *insert insult*" comments?

Without the US I'd be speaking German :blah: Without Europeans the USA wouldn't even exist :blah:

None of us would know what "would have happened IF...". Don't be dumb.

You know what man I did see it, but i slapped myslef in the middle of this hollywood production. The Super all american QB to save the day. Did you know that the first player to call for support and organize it was Warrick Dunn, Falcons. Then Followed Favre and Mc Nair. Anyhoo all things aside I am happy the urgency is catching on. We should all donate blood, not me though ;) after last night lol

Well you're just not being fair. Especially at a time like this. But if you want to nit-pick please let's.
Politically/Geographically:
Europe is under nazi rule, enslaved, humiliated; yes speaking German.
Technology:
Free market is the breeder of tech development, especially for that geared towards comfort. Why? coz they go after your pocket fulfilling your every wild want and wish. So again without the US forget the Internet, us talking on here FREELY.
Literature and Art
NO marvel!!! :)

I really should stop you get my point which is simply dont Demonize the US. It's no angel, but it definitely ain't the great Satan.

Well, keep in mind that the Mannings are from Louisiana and Mississippi. Shaquille O'Neal is also down there as well, since he went to school at LSU. I can't give blood, I'm anemic. Therefore I donated money and medical supplies instead.

I wasn't nitpicking, I was merely stating none of us would know what were to happen if history hadn't been what it is now. And we don't, do we? All we can do is guess.

If the US hadn't invented the internet, who's not to say some other country would have, be it much later?

And the Dutch were never forced to learn German during WWII btw. As for the outcome of the war: some historians argue that Western Europe would have fallen under Soviet rule, others argue that England and France would have got the upper hand on the Western front as Germany came under fiercer and fiercer attack in the East. Like I said: there's just no telling what would have happened.

I really should stop you get my point which is simply dont Demonize the US. It's no angel, but it definitely ain't the great Satan.
Wait a minute; I never demonised the United States. I like the country, maybe even love it. I'm working my ass off trying to beat my fellow students to a workplacement in San Francisco as we speak!

Lets just hope this gets resolved as quickly and painlessly as possible. BTW what do you think should happen with the whole refugee situation? will there ever be a new orleans in Louisiana(cant believe I am saying this)?

There will be, in some shape or form.

To be honest, as far as the refugee situation, I think that the State of Texas has really shown its true colors by allowing usage of the Astrodome for the refugees of Louisiana and Mississippi. I really don't know what they can do as far as a long term basis is concerned. There's a lot of empty land in Texas. Possibly set up some camps with as many amenities as possible perhaps?? We haven't dealt with something like this in so long, I'm not even sure where to begin.

Some people have seriously twisted my words here. Do you think I wanted this to happen? Do you reallly think I'm having fun seeing Americans struggle? No, I just attacked the US social system, because it makes them even more vulnerable at times like these. It simply isn't right that people are living under the poverty line in a country such as the US.

And perhaps the US does make the world spin the way it does now, but by the looks of it that's not a very good way.

BTW, I think I read this in another thread, but those gangs making things unsafe now, that's not normal either. Things like that can only happen in countries where the free market has created such a great deal of competition as in America. People just aren't agressive and competitive like that over here.

I would like to say that Erik has always spoken well of the USA, and I've never him enjoy anybody's suffering.

. . . and yes, I too hate that crap about "If it wasn't for us, you Frenchies would all be speaking German." If I had to listen to that crap for the last 55 years, I would most likely hate the USA as well. Of course, not all Americans think along those lines.

Not trying to be critical of Altair, just don't want anybody to group Erik's posts in the same category as Seven's posts.

And stop being so arrogant, Andy. You, and America with you, will eventually pay for your arrogance. It's main reason why America is hated so much around the globe .
