I thought the Delle Alpi was worse, I was in the Curva, and I thought I was not gonna be able to see anything, but I really didn't complain at all. I can't wait to see a game when we have our new stadium

The secret most people don't know about California is that it is definitely full of crazies, but the crazies are all imports from other states/nations who came to California looking to be crazies with other crazies. Most California natives I know are pretty buttoned up by comparison.

So chances are that your host parents are reacting more to their expatriate neighbors than Californians per se.
