++ [ originally posted by Andy ] ++Perhaps Nick, the old New York joker himself, can name me a few hotspots around the city to check out?
Avoid eating in Times Square, Little Italy on Mulberry or anywhere on Broadway in the Theater District (around 51st street and 55th etc.). Also avoid anything owned or associated with Rocco DiSpirito the guy from "THE RESTAURANT"..in reality he is a "wonderbread" wop.
The club scene in NY drastically changes year to year so I doubt the places I frequented are still 'hot' or even still exist. Anyhow, the Soho district (between the financial district - Lower Manhattan and Little Italy (Mulberry)) is always a hotspot ... there are also some good restaurants. Basically be a traveller and not a tourist.

    Buy on AliExpress.com

Avoid eating in Little Italy? I thought that place was pretty good?

I will certainly go down to Soho one night and check that place out.

I'm staying on I think 57th between 6th and 7th streets, a few blocks from Rockefella Center. Are there any suggestions around that area of town?

    Thanks by the way.

I think I'm about 10-20 blocks from the Garden.

Hmm, a store in little Italy called "Calcio" something. Thanks for the details Fabi. ;)

Parents are going of course, just to see the city for a while. I haven't been to New York since I was younger. I think my mom wants to see a play or something as well.

Nah its nothing like that..its just that your a "tourist" chiquita...last time I ate in Little Italy I sat down and told the waiter "buona sera" he panicked and said "non comprende signor" in his native hispanic. There are very few real Little Italy's left in North America...
the exceptions that I have seen are: Montreal, Toronto and San Francisco (as compared to others).
