These UK people voting against Trump's state visit - I hope they either voted anonymously, or don't plan on going to the US any time soon. The Reagan administration banned an Irish fellow I know who made a similar vote when he tried to visit Ireland to 'find his ancestral home' back in the Cold War days.

Wait what? Did they find a way to be even more illegal :howler:?
A law passed late in Obama administration suspends visa waiver program for dual citizens of those 7 countries, as well as anybody who traveled there for the past 5 years. This means that they had to obtain a visa to come to US. Now dual citizens cannot even obtain that visa because of Trump's EO.

To be fair that law is ridiculous too.

Obviously it was just for political theater. The intent was to restrict Jihadis who travel to middle east from coming to US, but most of the ISIS fighters actually went to Syria through Turkey border, and Turkey is not on that list. They pretty much pretended that ISIS fighters traveled to Syria through Damascus or Baghdad airport

My cousin wants to go his sisters wedding (she lives in Ohio), now he cannot most likely, because fuck it, he is a security risk suddenly. A little nerdy somali Archeology grad student who is born in Sweden (tho I'm not even sure if he has somali passport, so maybe they'll let him in, tho easier just to move wedding to another continent lol).

The Quebec shooting is odd, as in it's different then your usual shootings. It hasn't been done by some white nationalist or some ostracized muslim youth, this horrendous act was committed by a Quebecois native and a guy of Moroccan descent. I'm honestly curious what made them do that, they are both students at the Laval University and the Quebecois native is anthropology student who called the cops on himself because he felt bad. This whole thing is odd. Also it's the same mosque that had a pig head thrown at last winter. Different incident and a bloodier outcome. I wish the victim's families and the residents of Quebec city the best.
My mother called me and talked about this, she was utterly horrified. Had to calm her down a bit, said somethings we simply just cant understand.

I read this on a Quebec news site last night, and then the police confirmed this morning. Very strange.

Only 1 man arrested in Quebec mosque terror attack is a suspect

The shit being posted on social media and on comments in news articles from The far right is absolutely disgusting and shameless.

The fellow who did this is known for trolling and attacking Refugee groups and Feminist groups on Facebook. Now who does that remind you of...?

- - - Updated - - -

And by the way to all the Trump supporters. The Donald hasn't made a single tweet expressing outrage and shock over this shooting north of the border. Couldn't be because it was a White supremacist who supports Trump, could it.

What a piece of shit President.

Lol.

And no. Trump hasn't distanced himself from all of this. He can't, because his supporters are extremists (and opportunists like Andy, if Trump needs a camp leader Andy's his man).

The good news is that it's way too much too soon. Even Nazi Germany knew a slow descent into madness at first. I'm not saying we (this is starting to go global unfortunately) won't have to fight, but I'm convinced we can avoid absolute disaster.

The US is going to know a lot of internal violent conflict though.

We will find out whether the institutions in the US are robust enough to withstand a lunatic narcissistic insecure psychopath at the helm for 4 years. I have a feeling they are, but you never know......

Men like Bisonnette are cowards to the core, this was probably the first time he chose to stand for something he'd believe in, and that first time was when the others had their backs turned to him and he was armed with a firearm. Pitiful weak worthless little man.

I think they will be. But the damage might be considerable. Family members not being able to enter the country, people dying because they have their healthcare taken away from them.. These are big personal traumas. Not the sort of thing people easily forget.

Not to mention, who knows how the economy's gonna perform with the kind of actions he's gonna take or has taken. His cabinet consists entirely of sycophants and profiteers who will not hesitate one second to run the country in the ground for personal gain.

And the world condones this sort of thought. That's the worst part of it. The sickness is everywhere.

Which is why I'm almost completely unsympathetic to whatever calamity happens to in "developed" or "first world" countries. I couldn't care less if the entire world burned, as long as the ones I identify with are ok.
