The marathon is a world event. There are runners from everywhere, Africa, Europe, Aussieland, Asia, even my town. So of course people show concern when someone blows it. But the entire world isn't crying and most likely more than 50% of the world is unaware of what happened.

It's a real shame that people die everyday and don't get any coverage. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why one thing is deemed news and the other isn't.

They call it a 'tragedy', 'a massacre' etc.. Big. Fucking. Deal. People die every fucking day who didn't want to die yet, from starvation, car accidents, murders, cancer, neglect, work place accidents, drugs, general accidents, disease, animals, bad luck etc and because 'this isn't what is supposed to happen' it's the top story dominating news, with extended shows because 3 fucking americans died from a bomb.

And the worst part is not the news that show it, it's the retarded people that live vicariously through it.

The fact that it was in the US has a lot to do with the coverage. But it's also the fact that the Boston Marathon is a pretty large event worldwide. To my knowledge it's never been bombed before. It's the elephant right now, but in three days the media will cycle on to the next thing. If it upsets you so much you could always read a newspaper. Frankly, dead Americans I don't know don't bother me. I'm sure it's sad for someone.

So you think it's ok the way they blow things up? (pun not intended hehe - well sort of :p) They don't just report it, they try to get everyone to think that those people lives' that were lost are the most important in the world. They try to make it seem like this stuff just doesn't happen when it happens everyday in many places.

It just makes me laugh a little that a large amount of citizens in the western world think they aren't brainwashed or fed propaganda unlike NK etc... when they are probably more affected and conditioned by the western media machine.

And yes.. I'm so upset because 3 americans died. Because that's never happened before :troll:

Very true.

You, for example, seem to be one the most brainwashed forum members :p

I never said it was okay. You're just assuming I view this issue as a we're better than them issue. Which it isn't and I don't view it that way. I just understand the way the modern media works. Most of the events you brought up were reported, which is why you knew about them. But the modern media has the attention span of a adhd ridden millenial. So things like Iraq, Syria, and the Sudan become old news and the Boston Marathon bombing is the big story of the moment. By this time next week, they'll be one to whatever pseudo-tragedy they can drag up.

Your posts in the religion part of this forum make it easy to label you as brainwashed :D

Besides, if you try hard enough you can see "brainwashing" behind almost every opinion an individual or group of people might have. And since you are someone who usually has very strong opinions about a variety of subjects ...

They don't treat things like Iraq, Syria etc like the way they do when 3 americans die, which is the problem.

Only atheists make their own decision in regards to religion

If not the media or the government, then what am I brainwashed to? The tin-foil hat society? Do explain.

I guess that must mean... only those with no opinions are not brainwashed.

A Brisbane barber shop says it is attracting customers from hundreds of miles away - after offering topless trims. Barber Babes, based in the city's central business district, features topless female barbers cutting hair wearing only hot pants or underwear. It claims that customers travel from as far as Townesville - 850 miles away - for a short back and sides. The scantily-clad barbers also offer scalp massages, brow waxing, blow dries and a shave with a cut-throat razor.

'Owner operator Jasmine Robson said all her stylists were fully qualified hairdressers. "One of the gorgeous barbers was even apprentice of the year when she trained," she said. Ms Robson said the response has been excellent since the salon opened in February with some customers coming in every couple of days for a shave. "We have one client who flies in especially from Townsville to get his hair cut,'' she added

A court in Marivan (a Kurdish city located in west of Iran) sentenced a male suspect to be paraded in the city in women clothes as an act of humiliation. A group of women protested in Marivan which made headlines as it's suidicial for the Kurds to gather publicly and protest in Iran.
