Hehe finally indeed :stress:

I just unplugged the PS2 adapter and plugged it straight into USB.

First impression? Thereś a lot to learn and play around with. I totally get what you mean about the amount of customising you can do.

Oh well, 03:30, I´d better take a closer look at things in the morning :sleepy:

I hope this is the start of a new chapter :touched:

I hope so Graham :) A lot of people list "having more fun" as a reason for using linux, hope you find that is true ;)

This is gonna sound a bit silly... but I´m really lost with regards to the directory structure. I too used to having a ¨Program Files¨ directory and one to store all my downloads etc. When I first downloaded something, I was like ¨ermm...okayy.... where should I save this thing?"

I know, I know, it takes getting used to, a lot of it. But it's only because your mind stuck at the windows filestructure, without wanting to give that up. The unix variant is superior in some ways, as it's designed for stability, security and network use. For instance, backing up your entire file structure is a piece of cake. Try that on windows.. :eyepatch: I've been using linux for a while and I'm starting to appreciate the way it's done, slowly. :)

But here's a fast and easy intro:
    /bin Binary files (executables)
    /etc System-wide configuration files
    /dev Device files
    /home User home directories
    /lib Library files
    /sbin Superuser binary files
    /tmp Temporary files (short term)
/usr Files for users (software, docs, libs)
/var Runtime data (logs, temp files, mail spool, printer spool etc)

bah, i've been much too busy these days  A lot of stuff due, including a Flash assignment when I've only just started learning Flash this week :lazy:

I must really get around to it and stop delaying, letting poor Fedora gather dust. It's one of those "I'll do it when I have the time things", but hopefully I'll really set my mind to it for a solid period of time and at least learn the ropes, which i haven't done yet :lazy:

Flash? That sounds cool man :)

On my part I've gone windows free on my laptop the past 2 weeks or so and I've had some problems getting everything working, in particular the wireless adapter which is poorly supported in linux. It works now using the windows driver with a wrapper (don't ask me how they do it).

Found a better explanation of the filesystem structure:

    bin Essential command binaries
boot Static files of the boot loader
    dev Device files
    etc Host-specific system configuration
    home User home directories
lib Essential shared libraries and kernel modules
mnt Mount point for mounting a file system temporarily
proc Virtual directory for system information
root Home directory for the root user
    sbin Essential system binaries
    tmp Temporary files
    usr Secondary hierarchy
    var Variable data
    opt Add-on application software packages
